Yes Congrats Loco! I see Dg0896 is inactive. His posts were mainly in the PS2 section and generally worthless. It seems like the mods are cracking down on the useless posters. Well played Creaky and DDP! Cheers all!

Cool your AD addict status is official now. I still think they should add more rankings. I believe I suggested AD Lord at 5,000 posts lol. Then I could be Lord Tokijin. They could even put the title in front of your name. Dg0896 was never really any use to AD. His posts were full of such wisdom as "use DVD Shrink to shrink PS2 games, or "patch this game" without elaborating how to do so. Generally his entire posts were full of shite. They were vague one sentence wastes of server space, hence he's banned. It seems as if the mods are cracking down on such people lately. Kudos to DDP and Creaky for thinning out the herd. Oh the Power! I saw DanielG pulled a Gear79 and asked to be banned, anybody know why? I didn't know him that well, but he was knowledgeable and well respected. Cheers!

I don't believe someone intelligent like DanielG would be pushed away by someone that insignificant. I b*tched that kid up a couple times in other threads where he was posting BS. I was a little creative, but he didn't even stand up for himself. I felt kinda bad, but not after seeing all the other posts of his I've come across today. I get fed up with the idiocy sometimes, but I just call people on it rather that quit. If we let people like that take over the boards, then AD wouldn't have the reputation it does around the net. I mean when people on other sites have questions, they come here. I could be wrong, but DanielG's self imposed ban is likely for personal reasons. DDP, Creaky do you guys have any input? I'm not asking for details, just a yes it was for personal reasons. I sure as hell hope it wasn't because of that yoyo. Cheers!

It wasn't solely because of that yoyo, but he may have added the cherry to the top. I think Daniel's departure has been a long time coming as he's stated before he was getting tired of the same ole BS that goes on whereever it was that he frequented.

I had a nice little tussle with that wonderful policeman here:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/304369

and it just escalated from there in the thread that I posted earlier.

But as usual Lethal had his head firmly planted directly between his shoulders and not up his ass like I and some others did. I'm just glad the garbage is getting taken to the curb.

Ive seen many threads where some new/unknown person comes in and challenges the standard troubleshooting suggestions. This seems to be done to get attention, and to bait us. They know they are putting out contrary ideas, but rather than prove their point, they attack ours. "Brand X media is Great, and best burnt at 16x with a paper label on it." Things like that. And when you go to confront those ideas, thats when the flame wars begin.
Now many of us here don't know everything, and i will admit i dont, so im willing to listen to a good argument for a while. But it has to come down to proof that their way is better, or im not changing what i do. I also try to tell them that we are speaking to a large audience so our recommendations should apply and work for most ppl out there.
These are hit and run tatics that really wears you down as creaky said. All i am trying to do is help if i can. I try to use logic in arguments, and i try to not get in to arguments in the first place.
Daniel_G got mad that lyrics were being posted in a thread called "what are you currently listening to?". Now lyrics in such a thread is about as ON TOPIC as you can get. Lethal_B came up with the idea of putting a link to the lyrics in the thread, and that works ok. Because of that type of "i dont like to read lyrics so leave them out" attitude, it looks like it took ireland out of the posting in that thread.
Confrontation, who needs it? Ive got enough problems in my own life, without adding to them here. To me AD is a place to come help ppl, and enjoy the company of my friends. When it starts to be a place where your sound advice is attacked by unknown "experts". You start to wonder why you are coming to this place. I can get abuse much easier than going to the trouble of logging in and trying to help someone.
My advice is to not let the pondskum run you off. Dont get dragged down into flame wars either. We have to get good at seeing the problem posters. My tactic has been to ask them how many ppl have they helped? Does their "new" way of doing things help the average person looking for help here, or does it cause more problems if ppl follow their advice? If they are doing more harm than good, i say so, and try to leave the thread. Sometimes i try to shut them down with humor. That way works the best, if you can pull it off. Even the nOOb poster may start laughing. The burden should always be on the pioneer to show that their way is better, and it should be better for everyone, not just a few with QuadCore systems..
Well, thats my rant on the subject. We still have the good folks here who step in and help ppl. As long as that continues, AD will stand out above the crowd, and be sought out when help is needed.

That is pretty bold, but then again the ones who've been banned as of late pop right back up with another name and admit to who they are...if I were a mod I'd ban them immediately if they admitted their identity, what the point of being banned if you just come right back as someone else...that's no kind of punishment.

In the why did dg-whateverthenumberwas was banned, creaky has given him another chance!

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/308049

I agree with you LOCO, I would not have given him a second chance, all I saw was useless & mis-informed posts. I was quite frankly amazed at his lack of knowledge....

    [bold] Thank God For That![/bold]

Couldn't stand the guy, his posts were absolutely worthless and contradicted what he said. Had no clue whatsoever.

Oops, sorry Pulsar. I saw he was still inactive, and just assumed he was banned for good. I for one don't agree with him getting another chance, but I have no right to complain. Although let's just see how long it lasts.

EDIT : [bold] PULSAR [/bold] not Pulsa :)
