Bickering? I thought we were just having a discussion on sig preferences and then ddp informed us of who was actually legal and who isn't. To refresh everyone's mind, here's the rules that apply:

    Signatures

These rules exist to make viewing the forum as pleasant as possible to all users. Even though you might think signatures with large pictures look cool, some might find them extremely annoying.

    1. Text-only signatures should have at most 5 lines of text.

    2. An image-only signature should be less than 50kb in size, and be at most 500 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall.

    3. If you use an animated picture in the signature, it should not be too distractive. Eg. blinking images or images with quick movement are not allowed.

    4. If you want to use both text and image in your signature the image should not be more than 500 pixels wide and 100 pixels tall, and you can use up to three lines of text.

    5. All the abovementioned rules for forum posts apply also to the signatures.

Violation of these rules does not lead to an immediate ban. However if requested user must edit his or her signature to fit these guidelines.

Which means there's a bunch of illegal sigs floating around here, including yours svtstang. With your line of text it's 20 pixels over height. Funny, your line telling ddp it's legal is what makes it not. As I told DVDBack23, I'm not complaining. The situation doesn't bother me, I'm on DSL and used to scrolling past the big sigs.

I followed ddp's instructions, lose the text, and put mine within specs.

Ugh whatever, text is gone to avoid the sig police coming after me. Rules are a bit screwy it seems, my sig was smaller then yours when the one line of text wss included. Dont mind really anyways, after all it is just a picture lol.

Dvd, dont make me fly to NY! If I dont get a new sig soon I will!

ddp and the other mods have been pretty kind to us on the sigs, just asking us to be in compliance. You're right, it is strange you can have a smaller sig and it still be noncompliant. Rules are rules and there had to be something put in print. All in all it seems fair.

    good looking sig.

i'm hoping the Admins will get the sig nonsense sorted eventually, ie i'd like to see a section of the sig space that's locked down for a sig pic of a specific size, and a space just for text, so then we'd never have to chase people who deliberately make sigs that need 50mb broadband, just to load up. All we mods would have to do re sigs is weed out any spam or referrals etc... I live in hope :)

A simple way to end this crap is end sig and add aviatars

like Avatars must be no more than 100x100 pixels.
with mod control, and can be deleted.
    if the aviatar is offensive

i remember drd stating no aviatars
i do not remember the link..

but its still a good idea..to help the mods to control the crap on sigs..

also this thread should be moved to Digital photography board or a new sig thread should be made and sticked.

DVDBack23, I love your sig; it's the balance of sharpness and blur that does it IMO.

Talking of which, I could do with a sig.. I'll just make one.

Why's that? Maybe I'm not familiar with the ways things work, just doesn't seem necessary, that's all :)

Edit: New sig - picture stolezz from Digital Blasphemy and tweaked to fit sig sizes. Yay for me.

i've no problems with this thread either.. the only time (apart from when there's genuine AD slowdowns) threads slow down for me is when i'm using peer guardian. I find the easiest solution is to just use another PC, so i'm using my work's laptop with a brilliant new Linux livecd i've stumbled across called 'TinyMe' -

    http://tinyme.wikidot.com/local--files/screenshots/terminal.jpg

..my point with this is that i'm surfing at the moment via a USB1.1 modem connection and the only delay i'm having is due to the USB interface.

Anyways, if and when the thread does slowdown for everyone, i'll create a new one..
