gosh...is that tru...8600GTS is such a C*** card...what are the 2 test out of 32? in the New Toms Hardware's benchmark HD3870 is just behind the HD2900XT...
8 games were tested at four different resolution settings, resulting in 32 tests. The 8600GTS achieved a playable frame rate (30fps and above for 7 games, 20fps and above for supreme commander) in only 2 of the tests.
wow...so 8600GTS can kinda keep up with the latest cards...then my OCed 8600GTS can do a bit better than stock ones...
Barely, your card being overclocked isn't enough to change its position in those charts. the 8600GTS scores massively lower than all the other cards in most tests. It doesn't just miss the mark, it doesn't even get close.
To be fair, that's mainly because most people don't build laptops themselves, you'd just basically find the most expensive config on the Alienware page.
LOL...it's ok...can't believe i didn't get it...well i'm tired...it's 23:06 here...what time is it where you live...
I have a Nvidia Geforce 8600 GS 512Mb, for my new pc. Is this a good card or should I buy a new one? Its hard to find info on it, so hit with your insite.
That depends what you're going to do. Although there are far worse graphics cards than the 8600GS, there are far better ones, I'd consider it low-to mid range. If you want to play top recent games you'll want something better. Was the PC a prebuilt, like Dell, HP, Gateway etc.? If it was, before adding a better graphics card you'll also probably need to upgrade the power supply.
Its a packard bell that im upgrading bit buy bit. Could the dvd drive make games jump if its faulty cause thats the problemi'm having and I'm not so sure its a good drive it came with the prebuild! Should this card be able to handle Kane and Lynch?
