Yep, and the list I've just added to the end of that post makes the 8600GTS seem even more tragic.

8 games were tested at four different resolution settings, resulting in 32 tests. The 8600GTS achieved a playable frame rate (30fps and above for 7 games, 20fps and above for supreme commander) in only 2 of the tests.

Barely, your card being overclocked isn't enough to change its position in those charts. the 8600GTS scores massively lower than all the other cards in most tests. It doesn't just miss the mark, it doesn't even get close.

To be fair, that's mainly because most people don't build laptops themselves, you'd just basically find the most expensive config on the Alienware page.

I have a Nvidia Geforce 8600 GS 512Mb, for my new pc. Is this a good card or should I buy a new one? Its hard to find info on it, so hit with your insite.

That depends what you're going to do. Although there are far worse graphics cards than the 8600GS, there are far better ones, I'd consider it low-to mid range. If you want to play top recent games you'll want something better.
Was the PC a prebuilt, like Dell, HP, Gateway etc.? If it was, before adding a better graphics card you'll also probably need to upgrade the power supply.
