Well thanks for that advice X-D. Then, in your opinion, what would be the right choice for my setup, that has the best balance of style and function? BTW I have had a clear case before, and it did scratch easily, but that was mainly because I had to move it around all the time, but I never had any overheating issues with it.

Simpler systems don't, but put a high powered gaming machine in one and you'll soon find out...

    What's going in your PC?

Lol I'm not that rich! I was just trying to think of the most power you could put in a pc, but also having it look really cool, I'm not pretending to have a lot of experience building pc's xD Realistically, I'll probably start more modestly seeing as how I currently have an AGP setup. Probably along the lines of-

680i boards are horrid. Avoid anything nvidia on the motherboard/chipset side really, the only thing they're good at is desktop graphics cards.

You've also picked a hideous PSU, stick with a proper brand like Corsair - cheap PSUs are cheap for a reason, they're not safe!

You can also get a Radeon HD4850 for less than a 9800GTX now, and it's a better card.

Oh, and I recommend http://www.newegg.com over tigerdirect.

Well thanks for the help, just trying to look for good deals, I'm not really dedicated to nvidia or ati, and I'm looking for a good mobo with dual gpu capability and can be upgradable for a long time, but I do prefer intel.

BTW, does the 2 cards have to be the same with cross fire? Also don't mean to be lazy, but are there any good bulk deals with that mobo that you'd recommend?

They don't have to be identical but they have to be the same series (you can crossfire an HD3850 and HD3870, or an HD3870 and HD3870X2 together, but you can't crossfire an HD4870 and HD3870 together).

To use crossfire well, you need a full bandwidth chipset, the X38 or X48 - the once cheaper X38 boards are now discontinued, so I recommend sticking with the X48-DS4 I posted.

Thanks again Sam, unfortunately I'll probably be slowly building my new pc slowly due to lack of money, but at least with a great mobo I can build a "realistic" dream computer :)

Indeed, the X48-DS4 is the modernised version of my X38 board with the new chipset, it's an excellent overclocking/crossfire board with piles of features.

lol Well I'm selling it for 950 and the specs are in my sig. I just need to get the cooler worked out. One of the screws holding it in place broke and the replacement hasnt arrived yet.

But I will sell it after I fix the cooler problem and OC it as much as I safely can.

Well, thats cool, I'm saving for parts for a computer, and this will be my first full build from scratch. BTW I forgot where I heard it from, but I remember hearing some guy oc his pc to 15 g's and kept it cool with liquid nitrogen, not sure if thats even possible XD

Hmm, well it was probably a P4 then. Those things overclocked like crazy.

    Too bad the architecture sucked.

Also, if you know anyone who wants a gaming PC, let me know ;)

I might just sell it on eBay. I cant justify keeping a computer like this to just run FEAR Combat haha!
