well you could lower Vcore by upping FBST, CPU PLL, GTL references aswell :)

Yeah. Just don't take them too far. I think the max limit for pll is about 1.9.

    :O

    i wont take my E2140 over 1.7

i dont think over 1.5 would be safe for 45nm.

with 45nm chipsets, most people put too much VTT through them, and this is what causes tham to die, its not so much the Vcore

Well I've not used it. I'm going off knowledge from old dual cores.

Lmao, TheftAuto is right, getting that confused is a cardinal sin in electronics, we were given 0 for our electronics homeworks at school if we got that wrong... haha

I can't speak for the finer points of overclocking as I do most of it on Auto, but too much voltage through ANYTHING is bad.

i have only 1 thing on my P5K-E on auto, which is traction booster, as i have no idea where or what to do with it.

i have my NB GTL refernces and CPU GLT refernces at x61, not sure if i should inceace or decreace, as they are stable on these, but im sure reducing/increacing them would allwo a few extra mhz out of mt E2140, i mean 3.4GHz is good, but i want to try 3.5 for rounding off :) but from 1.6 stock, IMO im impressed by this E2140 and the P5K-E

BeQuiet's PSUs are pretty good, but no PSU is quiet with that much load. The Zalmans do it best, but even they won't be quiet with two 4870X2s.

With little thought I'll say no such thing exists, at least not for long. Every time I build one or complete a parts list for a build some manufacturer comes out with something that would make it better. That means the dream machine of the day is tomorrow's obsolete toy.

Couldn't resist. LOL I know the thread is for discussing individuals' idea of their dream PCs. My idea of a dream PC is one so far advanced that it would have the task done before I think of it. LOL

Well... if you build a dream computer now, it should be the best for at least a month, and then Nehalem comes out...

A whole month? And how long will it take Intel to reply?

thats why i have all those fan controllers.

and i have the second loop in there, for whent he water blocks for the X2 are out :)

the 120.3 is for the CPU (which should have been a QX9770 btw) adn the 120.4 for the dual 4870X2s

irrelevant. The 4870X2s will be loud, and the PSU louder still, and to my knowledge you can't currently watercool either. Perhaps try and find the Koolance watercooled PSU? Seemed to do very well in tests.

the blocks for the X2 ARE out. they have jsut reached OEM so i give it 2 weeks to reach retail.

well i will have to see review on the PSU (which i havnt found yet) to see the noise at differnt loads.

To see specifically how loud it is we will, but a 4870X2 combination even with the CPU at stock draws 750W AC, and even the quietest PSU currently on the market, the 1KW Zalman is loud with that much load.

    Kilowatt Power supplies
    Zalman 1KW:

    0-400W: 20dB
    400-480W: 20-25dB
    480-540W: 25-30dB
    540-580W: 30-35dB
    580-750W: 35-40dB
    750W+: 40dB

    Enermax Galaxy:
    0-160W: 30dB
    160-200W: 30-35dB
    200-360W: 35-40dB
    360-430W: 40-45dB
    430-500W: 45-50dB
    500W+: 50dB

    Silent 450W Power supplies

    BeQuiet DarkPower Pro 430
    0-75W: 21dB
    75-175W: 21-25dB
    175-250W: 25-30dB
    250-400W: 30-35dB
    400-430W: 35dB

    Corsair VX 450W
    0-230W: 21dB
    230-290W: 21-25dB
    290-325W: 25-30dB
    325-350W: 30-35dB
    350-375W: 35-40dB
    375-405W: 40-45dB
    405-450W: 45-50dB

It's difficult to make out what the 1200W Darkpower will be like based on these tests. If it is like the lower power brother, it wil be hopeless in a high-power silent rig, but probably be quite bearable under heavy strain.
