    Hi,
Advice greatly apprecited with this problem on my Starview thebox PVR.
All but the freeview channels are coming up with
" Bad or Scrambled channel T1" message,

I have gone into hidden menu and the Auto update is on, but i tried swithing off then back on several times and still the same.

I have reset the box and re-scanned many times, same.

Have checked and 2x checked cable feed is in input 1.

Any PVR experts with any ideas please give me a clue, im stummped.

    any thanks, very Dumbdood.

Go to parental control in receiver menu

    press ( i or info button) + (2007)

key and emu buttons should now be visible
switch key emu to on position
go to scrambled channel and wait for update .

    Hi, thanks for advice,
Though i did already switch the "Auto update" to on severall times.

I dont think the PVRs have "EMU" in the menu like the starview 2 + 3s.

Can anybodty tell me if I cant see "set Default " in the same menu as the "Auto update", would this indicate an un flashed box perhaps ?? or wrong version ??

Yes there is the EMU option on the PVR

Make sure you have it set to ON position

as ive already said i have set The Autoupdate option to ON,

which is the option in the Cas system menu, Not EMU as on the Starview 2s and supers.

Still saying bad or scrambled channels T1.

I have relaoded the f/ware to 15Oct version

Presume you have the tuners looped correctly ?

Yes feed going into input 1, i have dispensed with the lopp stub leed and use a splitter to provide direct feed to each tuner as this seems to improve the EPG via tuner 2.

That may be your problem though as you need your loop through cable plugged into cable tuner 1 output and then to cable tuner 2 input.

    Hi, scouser
I see what you are saying but i think it makes no difference to the tuners ability to decrypt the coded signal if they are run in series via the loop cable or each is fed directly via a splitter, in fact the signal strength is notably improved through t2 this way.
I have run other SV PVrs this way without a problem, in fact this very box was working fine until i lent it out to a friend to try,

HHhmmm , i have an idea now what the problem might be... just going to give it a go..

Yes , you are absolutely right Dublin 07.
Ive just done a factory reset then re-scanned and it worked fine,
i recall my friend saying that he had to do the same when he borrowed the box as he is in a different area.
I think that the box remembers the original frequency settings and keeps reverting back to that even if you change to another provider.
Any way it works so many thanks for the hint.

    Thanks to all, Dumbdood.

Yes i am on NThell and hes excw,
So theres obvoiusly something stored/set in memory from the first scan that needs to be removed with a factory reset before new settings will take.

As you said a factory reset and a scan on N** should do it as his symbol rate and frequencies differ.

Yes, it seems obvious now but i was selecting NThell and rescanning, couldnt understand why it was clearing as it was finding all channels.
So if anybody else has this problem, you justneed to Factory reset 1st. Many thanks all.

Have you tried reverting back to your original firmware?

    hey dude

god nothing is working for me regarding these missing channels , I am after trying everything seriously everything i'm a computer engineer so I know what i'm doing , i have flashed the memory twice one with the old firmware one with the new one , i have scanned and rescanned with direct cables from the wall

I even brought it up to my mates house and done a scan there and the same thing, it just wont pickup freq 347.500 which is utv bbc1 2 and all the others on that frequency

i cant understand this as i had them before i did an upgrade with the new firmware oct 2007 but i have even taken this off and put back july 07

have you any other ideas mate , is the factory reset the ultimate reset or can you totally wipe the memory any other way

anything at all dude would help , thanks

    Patrick

Sounds like you are on N** Dublin, the TP is weak in some areas have you tried a booster? But also do a factory reset and rescan after the booster install as a new TP has been added and some channels changed to others.
