Hi, my first post ever!! I download a dvd, got all these VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS_01_0.BUP, VTS_01_0.VOB files with varying numbers, total file size 7.4 Gb. Do i need to burn these onto a DVD+R so i can fit the whole thing, or can i do something to fit it on a normal DVD-R, or perhaps split it into 2 discs? Cheers for your help.
Welcome to AfterDawn! At 7.4G, your files won't fit on either +or- R single layer media. You can run those files through a program called DVD Shrink and it will compress them down to a size small enough to fit a blank disc. You will need a separate burning program to burn the output. Here's a guide for using DVD Shrink.... http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm
So, if i burn it to a dual layer dvd+r will i be able to play it in a normal dvd player? Also these discs are much more expensive so i will prob shrink down, what the loss of quality like when shrinking? cheers for you help
If you use a dual layer disc then you won't need to compress it. If you use a single layer disc and compress, then the quality can vary by your perception, the equipment used to view, and how much compression is applied.
