A few days ago I popped a DVD into my dvd drive, and it didn't recognize the disk. My DVD-rom drive said it was empty and that I needed to insert a disk. There's nothing wrong with my drive, because all my other DVDs have worked fine. There's nothing wrong with the DVD itself because I've put it into my friends computers, and it works fine. In the past, to burn DVDs (which is what I'm trying to do) all I do is open DVD shrink, open the disk and then do a full burn, without any problems. With this one it will recognize the disk if it's in my E drive (the dvd-rw drive) but will stop at 0% because of a CFC error.. I've looked around the internet for other people with the same error, but none of their remedies have helped me at all. Thanks in advance ! -Nina

    Do you mean CRC error?

Is this an original dvd or a backup dvd?

If it is an original dvd, please tell us the title.

If it is a backup dvd, please tell us the media it was burned on and how fast it was burned: Example- Tdk +r4 4x,burned at 4x.

Brianna loves jena! Sweeeeeeeeeet! Very Hot!

I have that one backed up,and original safely stored away. I do have a couple other jenna j discs that give me crc errors. I've tried to rip these with dvd decrypter ,but had no luck doing so. Other members did get their damaged/hard to play discs to work with that free program. It's a more powerful ripper than dvd shrink.

    Download the free version
Use the guides I post at end of post

You are going to have to change 2 things in dvd decrypter's default settings.

    Open up dvd decrypter
    Tools
    Settings
    Css tab- Tick brute force
    I/O tab- Ignore read errors

Again, some members have luck using this program for this particular issue, but I haven't.

Here's some great guides for this program: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/index.html

My other problem is my DVD-rom drive won't recognize the disk so there's no point in even fiddling around with the software because it tells me the drive is empty when this disk is in it. Maybe my DVD-rw drive will let me play it later and I'll try it then.. thanks for the help thus far

edit: I love Jenna Jameson too :)

I had the same problem with my Briana Loves Jenna DVD. Does it do that for just that dvd or does it have the same problem for all your dvds? Try uninstalling the drive and restarting the computer.

What region and or format is the original dvd? What brand name is your dvd-rom and have you try to update it's firmware to the latest? What I mean is just navigate around the net looking for firmware update that's in pertaining to your specific dvd-rom model, and I would suggest only it's manufacture's site only. You've stated that your E:drive [dvd-rw/burner drive] can read and recognize the original dvd right? Then why don't you try to use SHRINK to rip and burn using SOURCE and DESTINATION with the same drive [your E:drive]. I've tested and used my dvd burner drive to do the read and then burn in the past and it's fine.

On the box it says "no regional coding" but when I got it to work the one time in my E: drive it forced me to say that my DVD player was region 1. I have no idea what brand it is, it came with my Dell computer which is about a year old now. I did try what you suggested but also with no success, it gives me the same CRC error from my E: drive and just sits at 0% and when I hit ctrl+alt+del it will eventually tell me that it's not responding. The disk will just spin and spin and make almost grinding noises..

hehe..grinding noises from that Brianna Loves Jenna dvd...interesting choice of words.

may i ask what model Dell you are using, i have at least 1/2 dozen Dell's (desktop and laptop) so, i might be able to guess what kind of dvd-rom (manufacturer) is in your particular setup if i can get the model number for your Dimension desktop (im assuming it's a Dimension). if we could get a little more info, might be able to find a firmware update as suggested by the above posts to help your E drive be able to locate and "see" the disc.

i have a few "adult titles" backed up in my collection as well, but have had very few problems with them, most of them are not w/ Jenna Jameson, but, you get my drift~

Once you restart the computer, the computer will find all available drives that it has, even the one that was taken out. If not im sure you have a startup disc.

haha I guess I could have used different words there.. but anyway. I have a Dell Dimension 4600, the only thing it says on the actual DVD rom drive is "compact disc rewritable ultra speed".

    I really appreciate everyone's help :)
