Hi All - My problem is solved. The problem solver was the DirectShow priority. My error description was different than error listed for the DirectShow Priority - thus I didn't change it at first. But I changed it anyway based on a message from gidgette and voila - now it's working fine!! Gidgette - you an expert in my books now :)
Thanks to everyone for their help - Dela, Gidgette, Phantom.

I am also having problems with tmpgenc in that when I start encoding everything is going fine until after a couple of minutes the preview box goes blank and this is exactly what the mpeg file is , just a blank screen. But I know the avi file is o.k because I can watch it right through in divx player. Any ideas?????
I am using koepi codec as it is divx

I have noticed the same problem during conversion of some AVI files. Almost every time, it has turned out to be a bad quality AVI file.

Sometimes TmpGenc would crash in the middle of converting the file. In the case of the crash, you can get around it by skipping the bad sector.

But I haven't found any successful way of converting the file when I get the blank dark screen in the middle of conversion.

Give ffdshow a try? u can get it from the softwarew section of this site! I'm only taking a wild guess as to what the problem is btw, but dont worry ffdshow can easily be uninstalled!

i have used TMPGEnc to encode a downloaded avi. it encodeed it for 20+ hours. i used the afterdawn guide. followed all instructions perfectly. after it encoded my file. i was left with a video file and an AUDIO file. i continued following the guide and then authored the files, as it says in the guide. i then burnt it using nero 6, as it says in the guide and succesfully burnt the dvd. then i popped it into the PS2 and video was perfect, but no AUDIO.

i have been told before that it is because no AUDIO file has been created by TMPGEnc, but i have got an audio file.

So how do i solve this so when the dvd is burned it will play the video, as it is now, but also play the audio???

please help i have tried many different ideas and wasted bout 10 dvds

if u have and info either post it or email me. piyrwqaz@hotmail.com

    right,

download SCMPX then go into the external tool tab
(you get here by clicking option and then choosing environmental settings). then tick the bottom box and browse for the smmpx .exe file
try that scmpx will then encode the audio before tmpgenc does the video
if that dosent work tick the top 2 and add it there too.
personally i only use the bottom one

hi. i need ur help. i have a problem regarding the d2v files concerning the audio source in TMPGEnc. well, i've read some guidelines in the most common problems in TMPGEnc. i've already copied the file dvd2avi.vfp into a folder which contains the TMPGEnc files that i extracted, or should i paste the file somewhere inside the folders of TMPGEnc?. i also opened the DVD2AVI just to make sure but still TMPGEnc couldnt read the file. ok, i wanna make sure what file is needed to be browsed in the audio source, it's the same file that i browsed in the video source right? how bout the settings? in the TMPGEnc i opened options/environmental settings/VFAPI plug-ins and saw two DVD2AVI Project File Reader 1.77.3 with the same file DVD2AVI.vfp and with a 0 priority, should i change the priority or what? finally, should i re-install or should i say unzipped the DVD2AVI that i downloaded and erase the one i'm using? or my other software is having conflicts with it ? please help me, i already followed the guide and still i'm having problems. thanks and more power.
