I have an Hp Pavillion Pentium 4, Windows XP, nero 6, Lite-On sohw 1633S.

So I bought it along time ago and decided recently to update the firmware to the latest one, which is BSOY. Therefore, after that, after trying to burn a data dvd, nero 6 had this problem with write buffer fluctuating up and down, which in turn caused it to be super slow, whenever I wanted to burn at 8x or 16x it took around 50 minutes, that's right folks 50.

I have read a bunch of posts where people discuss similar problems as mine, and after trying to change cables, re-intalling nero, etc, to see what was causing the low write buffer rate, I decided to go to best buy to buy a new dvd burner, since I thought the problem was the burner dying on me.

Today, I went to http://codeguys.rpc1.org and went to firmwares to find the second latest firmware for me dvd burner which is BSOS, after intalling it, walla, I am able to run 89-99 write buffer level.

Its so nice to burn a 4.7GB in like 4 minutes, mwahahaha.

Anyways, just thought I let you know to not upgrade to BSOY if you have the same kind of dvd burner as I have. I also wanted to post this to save you guys a hassle of buying a new dvd burner, cables, etc, when the your whole problem might be just the friggin BSOY firmware.

    Peace out.

It probably was, even tho I downloaded it from the lite-on website.

I don't think I'm upgrading since I can burn at the most supported speed with BSOS which is 16x. And for the media I use Memorex.

Thanks for the feedback, take care.

Memorex is very poor media you are better off using Verbatium or sony only if made in Japan media that are made in Taiwan are poorly made they may work at first but down the road problems come up the disc start to freeze skip and just do not play I have been thru this before

    You serious?

I thought memorex was really good, you know any websites that rates media based on relaiability, durability, and performance?

    Thanks.

It would seem as though you are right.

I will have to spend lots of money to transfer my current dvd information onto a different format.

So far i haven't had any problems with memorex. Hopefully the media i already have on them lasts me a long time.

I will buy sony and others too to see how they perform. Thanks.

They may last for a while, just replace them as needed. Mine took a while before they started giving problems.
