Piracy hmmm....Years ago in the golden age of vinyl, cassettes and yes even 8-tracks (yes I'm old) it was perfectly legal to make a tape for some one containing they're favorite songs from any source.I have never down loaded music but because of the music sharing that my friends and I do we all have quite nice CD collections. Is that piracy? I don't think so, as every one of the originals were store bought. The artists and the record companies all got what they had coming. (just not as many times over as they would have liked!) I promise you no one has gone hungry because of it! That's my story and I'm stickin to it! Thanks Pulsar that's what I thought...
Yeah, that's my feeling. The artists are already so damn rich so they don't need the extra money, and I don't need to give them the extra money. I'll stick to the good 'ol Limewire for now.
looks like this baby is WAY off topic lol,i say its ok to download music if your willing to take the chance ,BUT if your caught(which is very unlikey)unless you have a huge number of files loaded on your machine .then you have to face up to it
Probably the best defense I can give about music downloading is that I simply can not afford to buy the cds. Yes I have the money to buy a few cds once a while, but that isn't nearly enough to keep me entertained. I absolutely love music and listen to it basically whenever I can. In order to have a legally obtained music collection that I could sit back and just enjoy, I would have to invest thousands of dollars into it. I'd rather spend the money on better audio equipment. Its one of those things where in theory yes it is wrong because we're stealing the music, but I seem to just not really care. Any other excuse for me would just be some attempt at trying to justify my actions.
Hi, In my opinion there are rare instances that pirating certain songs should be permissable as they are not available through any other means. Remixes, live recordings, studio sessions for me would fall into that category. Mind you I am referring to singles not whole albums. The theory will always be (per todays' law) it is stealing and the artist/ record companies don't make money but on the other hand music today has generally deteriorated to the point where only 1-2 songs would actually get airplay/ generate a buzz to a point where I as the common consumer would purchase the entire cd to find those are the only songs that are worth the price. Also these compilations they are putting out these days of old works by artists are digitally remastered and the song kind of loses its original essence that initially grabbed my ear. Just my humble opinion.
good morning all, very hot news,ye Pirating day may be over RIAA vs Hollywood in p2p case' America's Top Cop p2p news / p2pnet: The RIAA has launched an anti-p2p file sharing lawsuit which, without exaggeration, threatens to take down the Net in the United States. http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/332305
Yeah I download but I support my artists. I hear at school ohh *blah blah blah* bands new CD is great. Well before I blow $15-$20 on the CD. I will download it and listen to it first. Then if I like it Ill buy the CD if not Ill just get rid of the song. *downloading is no different then recording music from a streaming service!
