Hi Try flashing on a PC with a com port only, just the 9pin cable (say at a mates or relatives) as quite a few people on here have had problems with usb adaptors/converters. Might also be worth downloading another copy of the bin file in case that is corrupted. jbvid
ok belblue heres some more info courtesy again of celt71 http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/590337
Sorry for butting in lads It could be to do with the cable supplied with "THE B0X" I bet its the rs232 cable and not the NULL MODEM CABLE OR the settings for the COM port is wrong in device manager The most common issue when installing the USB adapter and driver is selecting the correct port for your map software to recognize. You must make sure your particular software is looking on the correct port for it to transfer any data. To see which port your USB adapter is connected to, connect your USB adapter and follow the following instructions: 1. Go to the Start Menu 2. Right click on "My Computer" 3. Select "Properties" 4. Click on the "Hardware" tab 5. Click on "Device Manager" 6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)" 7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.) 8. Go back to your software program (GT ROM LOADER) that you use to transfer data and make sure it is looking at the correct port. 9. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected If you need drivers go here http://www.gilsson.com/usb_drivers_download.htm
Cheers again celt71 should have gone into more detail but i was being lazy b-( 1 of those nights tried to send belblue25 in the right direction, thanks again
@belblue25 As Celtic71 says you may have a straight wired cable so a little more info here to check your null modem cable, It should have 2 x DB9 sockets (both female) one per end, and to check it with a meter or bulb and battery pin 2 on one end to pin 3 on the other end, pin 3 to pin 2 and pin 5 to pin 5. If its not wired like that its not a Null Modem Cable. You can even make your own if you have two spare sockets, 3 lengths of wire and a soldering iron. jbvid
thanks for everyones help i got it sorted i went to a friends and used his pc as was suggested and it worked a treat it must of been a bad connection from the usb on the laptop any way its running great thanks again
