Hello everyone. I'm a new DVD-R user and my Matshita UJ-820S has been performing erraticly. I shrink my DVD's using DVD Shrink, then image them using ImgTool, and finally burn them using DVD Decrypter. However, I occasionally get the following error at the beginning of the burning phase:

    I/O Error!

    Device: [1:0:0] MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-820S 1.50 (D:) (ATA)

    ScsiStatus: 0x02
    Interpretation: Check Condition

    CDB: 2A 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 20 00
    Interpretation: Write (10) – Sectors: 768 – 799

    Sense Area: F100 04 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 01 0A 09 01 00 00 00 00
    Interpretation: Tracking Servo Failure

Once this error pops up, I can't get it to burn again. I've read through other posts and maybe I need new firmware? Does anyone know where I get get new firmware for this drive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why are you using ImgTool? DVD Shrink 3.2 will make the image files that DVD Decrypter can burn. 3.2 works with both NTFS and FAT 32 drives.

What brand of DVD media are you using? The error you are getting is often caused by poor quality DVD media.

I am using TDK discs. Is another brand more highly recommended?

Thanks for the tip of using DVD Shrink to make the .iso file.
