I have a lot of movie video files on my PC that I have for making dvd backups via dvdshrink and fab and whatnot. Still using Nero 6 for writing to new blank DVD. I want to know how to get a playable movie using these files on my pc, the .vob ones and such, transferred to my Kindle Fire. Is it possible and if so could someone pint me to a "how to"? Thanks in advance!

Yes actually you can but you have to jailbreak the kindle fire which of course voids your warranty and you will then have issues accessing the kindle store which sucks i would truly recommend for doing videos dont buy a kindle fire i would have purchased a cheaper android based tablet not a kindle which even though it runs android won't let you do anything else without tampering with the device

yes but it is talking about mobi player which only plays non hacker formats it wont play divx or avi with divx so you still have to convert it into another format that mobi can read but the latest firmware for the kindle fire is due out here shortly and is suppose to prevent mobiplayer and other apps from installing on the fire we will just have to wait and see

never heard of non hacker format as it doesn't exist, you must mean something else by it,perhaps like the xbox 360 can't natively play mkv,so all that's required is conversion from vob to whatever is needed if mobo can't natively play vobs which would still be required to do if it does play avi since member has no avi

no it's called hacker format non hacker format is this.

    Avi

    Mpeg

    Mpeg 4

    Flv

    Mpeg 2

    so on so fourth.

To prevent law enforcement from finding illegally obtained movies music so on and so fourth hackers started giving weird file names and converting files with hidden properties.

    an example.

mpeg-4 also m4v is still mpeg 4 but usually contains drm or other protection measures passwords so on and so fourth.

    this is common

hackers create a file called let's say for this demo a file name called.

    girl on bicycle.mp4

but it wont play in itunes on quicktime nor will it play in media center or media player because it doesn't understand the format.

this happens because the file says it's mpeg4 is actually a capsule file called mpeg 4 with divx if you dont have a divx supported plugin or vlc media player or for mac users mplayerx which supports the format the format will basically not play unless you convert the file format to another version that is just regular mpeg-4

    Current hacker formats are.

    Mpeg-4 with divx

    xvid

3g (cell phone video stay away most are malware porn and even really illegal stuff most users are smart to stay away from this format because it supports the most risk to users)

dvi- with subtitles this usually plays fine in most players vlc and even certain media players with proper plugins but if your player doesn't support the digital video with subtitles you will just get video no subtitles in a launguage you dont understand

there is also mpeg-4 with subtitles as well thats better for subtitles and are better at correct subtitles

like i said you will still have to convert depending on what video you have downloaded.
