Thanks, I've been waiting years for this to come out. I bought the dts dvd of "and all that could have been" which tided me over for a while. I would have thought Trent would have been one of the leading artists for this format.

Amazon.com is now taking pre-orders for the Downward Spiral DVD-A, at about half the price of the 2-disc SACD version. Keep in mind, the DVD-A dualdisc is a two-sided optical media format - one side plays in your DVD player, the other side in a regular CD player.
Both the DVD-A and SACD versions of The Downward Spiral have been remastered and remixed in to 5.1 surround sound. The SACD comes bundled with a bonus disc with highlighted b-sides and remixes of songs from The Downward Spiral, along with never before released demo versions of a handful of tracks. The DVD-A has a number of videos and image galleries. More information can be found on the nine inch nails website.

I picked up the DVD release of TDS the day it was released. I can't say I've ever been this excited to get home and play a CD.

Holy Sh*t - 100% blown away listening to this album in Dolby Digital. Justifying to my fiancé to replace my Mirage speaker's with Martin Logan's just got bumped up the priority scale.

Per the NIN website - Trent wants to re-release Pretty Hate Machine in a DD format as well, here is his comments on this topic:
"i'd like to eventually release a deluxe version of TDS, but there is the additional hassle of dealing with tvt records who I was signed to at the time - so I don't know how possible that is"

Hopefully TVT Records won't try to hard to block this effort.

NIN new album was also finished on 12-31-2004 - I have not found a release date yet.

This is the reason I bought a DVD-A/SACD player. I knew that my favorite cd's would be re-released and remastered to a higher format/resolution someday. Here is a link to an in-depth comparison done by a studio technician/engineer of the orriginal release vs. the high res format.
