You'll need AnyDVD to backup many of the newer titles you may purchase. DVDFab Decrypter (also free) may work for some of them. AnyDVD was on sale at a $10 discount for $29 by using the Afterdawn as the code. The same company also puts out CloneDVD which many here swear by as well. It's worth the money since they do updates all the time (2 last week alone I think) to keep up with new protection schemes. AnyDVD has lifetime updates. They also protected against the wretched virus Sony gave people with their music CDs a while back.

i just finished burning bad boys 2 with no errors but there isnt anything on disc. When i look at disk the lines go to edge so something should be on there..... ahhhhh this is frustrating. I wish i had DVD RW ive messed up atleast 10 dvd's. Is it because i got cheap dvds. I got them from best buy on a huge sale. 75 of them for 4$ after mail and rebate. There called Dynex.

There's no substitute for good quality media. Dynex uses a bunch of different manufacturers. Some are very good, some not so good. Without the media code it is impossible to know whether you have good or bad media. You can download DVD Identifier. The site is in my signature. Good brands are Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, and Made in Japan labeled Maxell, Fuji, and Sony.

Also your firmware is not up to date. Go to the site below, download the latest firmware, and flash it to your burner.

This Sony is really a Lite-On 1693. You should be able to use their firmware as well if you so desire in the future.
