I've been through at least 4 ill-fated attempts at a successful burned DVD, which took just as long to rip it from DVD-RW (VR Mode). I've pretty much followed the directions you guys have provided so far, but no such luck. Here's a recent log of what's been going on.

It's been at least 9 hours since I started on this, and I'm beginning to lose hope on Nero. What should I do at this point, I wonder? Thanks.

that's ridiculous! is your computer 9yrs old??????? I don't think so! One reason why it takes so long might be that you have DMA issues:
    turn on DMA: http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues
Your ASPI isn't showing up!~ try this, version 4.71 from here - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/aspi.cfm
your using too much memory! shut down programs running in the background..... no internet no multi tasking !
slow your burn speed down to no more than 8x!
this is a Roxio/Sonic file! sometimes Roxio/Sonic clash with Nero..... and when you're having Nero problems it's wise to uninstall Roxio/Sonic and do a Roxio Zapp to make sure Roxio isn't left in your computer: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

    good luck..... welcome to afterdawn!

Thanks. I'll give that a shot. Hopefully it'll work this time. At least this issue is isolated only to DVD±Rs. I had to re-burn it on the original re-writable in the meantime (which uses 1/8 the speed of a recordable with no problems). Wish me luck.

Okay. I've pretty much did everything specified, so far; except the part about multi-tasking. I'm not sure what falls into this category. All the same, I'll see how much of a difference the settings make this time around. Thank you again.
