At the start of vob8 Decrypter reported bad pack headers. I imagine that the errors were caused by. BTW, thanks for you help in helping me understand what is going on with the newer DVD protection. I want to be able to use Lightning_UK's program till HD DVD is mainstream.

I finally got a good copy of Madagascar. I disabled ANYDVD, ran DVDFAB Decrypter, VOB Blanker (default setting), and then recode2. I tried skipping the VOB Blanker step but I kept getting out of memory error when running recode2. This did not make since when I tried burning to my hard drive because it had over 100G of free memory. Thanks everyone for coming up with a solution.

Doing a movie only for this DVD seems like no different than Sony ARccOS movies. I do not see how there could be any protection from cells 5 through 25. There seems to be a cell commands that skips cell 26 and jumps to one of the small PGCs in the VTS. I wonder if cell 26 is rippable?

The only problems I see with this movie are Title 94, the insanely complex menu structure, and the extra PGCs in VTS_08.

What would be hard to get here, is a 100% workable menu and making the movie skip straight to the menu. There is some retarded stuff going on in VTS_08 where it goes back and forth from the VMG to VTS_08. It could be that there are a series of checks that happens so that the DVD is harder to copy with a workable menu. This is what I suspect the extra PGCs are in VTS_08.

Title 94 does not seem to be referenced anywhere by any commands (PGC 5). Also, the only command in this title is to jump to the Root menu of the VTS (VTS_08). Also, it uses VOB ID 5 (the movie begins with VOB ID 6 and the cell before is VOB ID 4). This could be a corrupted Cell in VTS_08_1.VOB. Try to rip PGC 5 of VTS_08 and see if it you get an error or if it rips fine.

I could make a theoretical guide up for you, but there would be no way for me to test it, unless if I get the movie. There is a slight chance of me buying this movie. My brother kind of wants it and the free Popcorn & Evian is soooo tempting....

I wonder if there are any other versions of this movie(ala Bewitched and Lords of Dogtown)? Since what works for some will not work for others, this seems to be a good posibility. I may have to rent another copy of the movie and check the ifo file and check to see if they are different. Are there any good guides to working with IFOEdit or any web based resource on the workings of an IFO file?

    Thanx in advance....

BTW, What brand of popcorn? I prefer beer myself.

    @ sd72667,
If you rip with DvDFAB Decrypt., You should be able to burn 1:1 to a (DL) using CopyToDvd software (If you have it). It worked for me... .. .. .

I finally got this movie to work, Thanks to JaguarGod.

    1. Dvd Decrypter
    2. VobBlanker_2010, Quote from JaguarGod "There are 4 PGCs that are also very short. These are PGC 2, 3, 4, & 5 of VTS_08. Perhaps these should be blanked out or not ripped at all." I blanked these PCG's and then hit process.
    3. Dvd Shrink

The full Movie with Menus. Thanks Again for the help :)

I used Verbatim DVD+R DL. I know now that the movie has a new protection scheme.

@ sd72667, I also used Verb. DL's and was able to handle the task at hand using the method that I stated earlier (1:1 complete disk) with perfect results.... . ..
    Gotta,.. . :)

    @christ93,

http://www.ifoedit.com/ is back on line, so check that out. There are lots of nice guides available there. Also, you should look at PGCEdit. This is like IFOEdit, but more updated and easier to use. I am learning to use this one as there are some commands missing in IFOEdit that are usefull.

The popcorn that comes with it is Orville Redenbacher 3-pack. I would also prefer beer with it, especially since the ones I drink are $3 - 9 a bottle.

Also, let me know how your research goes.

    cmax420,

I am glad that I was able to help you.

    @Jaguargod

What kind of beer do you drink?!?!?!?! $9 for a bottle?!?!?!?! I prefer Sol or Stingray myself. I can get Sol when I go to North Carolina but alas I can only get Stingray on Grand Cayman Island. :( I did use PGCEdit with the ARccOS plugin written by The Mad Monk. I will let you know how it goes. It may take me a while as the wife and I are moving this weekend. Our current house sold before our new one is done being built. Let me tell you when you have been in a single family house of the better part of a decade, apartment living sucks!

Hey guys got the latest version of dvdfab and was able to rip it and open it with shrink but when I try to burn it, it gets about 71 percent into it and get an error message saying out of memory. Any idea why? same thing happen to me that happen to the person before me. We must have been repling at the same time.

    foolproof working copy with menus
    1. Dvd Decrypter or latest version of dvdfab free
    2. Open decrypted files with VobBlanker
    3. Under VTS_08, blank PGC 2,3,4, and 5.
    4. Output to new dir.
    5. Open blanked file dir with DVD Shrink.
    6. Thank Jaguar God!!

This worked for me, hope it helps. Very simply, have AnyDVD running and then just use CloneDVD2, thats it!! Perfect copy (well as good as it can) with full working menus, I stripped out the audio that wasn't needed but it works..

    Simple :

    Download & Install AnyDVD 5.5.5.1
Then DVDShrink 3.2.0.15 to Rip & Burn

    Problem Solved!

    Total Time approx. 16min.

    x8 DVD-R

Anyone who says otherwise works for "Dreamworks"

The $9.00 a bottle beer would be Saisson DuPont from Belgium. This is a larger size at 750mL.

The other beers I drink, which BTW I like more, are Schneider Weiss Original, Kostritzer Schwartz, Monchshof Schwartbier, Franziskaner Hefe weiss, etc... All German beers mainly from Southern Germany. I also like Belgian Wit beers like Hoegaarden and those Spontanious Fermented Fruity Beers from there as well.

These are not beers the average person will enjoy though, except maybe Monchshof and Kostritzer.

Also, I see the PGC 2, 3, 4, & 5 worked out for one more person. I wonder if I figured out Ripguard????

Also, good luck with your new home. I hope everything works out for you.

click on the trouble file vts_08 in blanker. It will open the contents of vts_08 underneath in the new "spreadsheet". vts_08 contains 5 items. PGC 1-5. Highlight 2-5 and on the right side click blank. Then process.

What an awesome job Jaguargod on the Madagascar info. Aslo nods to Tone28 for making it even more understandable to us mere software mortals.
I was just wondering how you discovered which PGCs to blank. I have another movie (old and unimportant) that has become a personal crusade to process. The movie is Weird Science ( a Sony Flick) that will not let me rip it in any way with any tool I have tried. I am thinking that it is the same deal as this but I would need to figure it all out. Can you help? Thanks
