    I am very glad to be of help. I have received answers to a lot of problems in these forums, and i love to be able to give back. The real credit goes out to JaguarGod, who has replaced the man sitting in the dvd ripping throne and deserves a lifetime supply of 9 dollar beers delivered in a timely fashion to his doorstep. I do believe this is RipGuard in its adolescent stage, and i believe that its back to the drawing board fellas!

    Thanks for that comment!!! Yeah, I am pretty sure they will implement Ripguard better pretty soon.

    @jboonj,

    I figured out which PGCs to blank by taking a look at the IFOs that Christ93 sent me. When I looked at those PGCs' cell commands, they did not do anything except go back and forth between a menu in VIDEO_TS.VOB and the PGC in VTS_08. Also, PGC 5 was not referenced by any Cell commands anywhere in the DVD. I am pretty sure it is PGC 5 that is giving the problems, but it is better to blank them all anyways.

    Just finished backup of Madagascar.

    Method used:

    Rip with DVD Decrpyter using ISO Read mode

    Open the resulting Disk Image in DVD Shrink

    Let Shrink analyse the movie

    Use Re-author to do main movie only - get rid of all unecessary languages/audio streams etc.

    Burn the movie using Nero or similar - easy.

    Just a follow up. Madagascar worked. First I did the Rip-Blank and Burn Method. Then I Downloaded the new DVDClone2 and AnyDVD When used together they worked without a hitch. The second method is just going to be a bit more expensive and less complex but I am still committed to learning how DVDs actually work. In whick case I am still going to need lots of coaching from all you software genies.

    Hi Jaguar me again.
    OK really started to work on your guide. 3 things that would make a world of difference.
    1. Your guide is for Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Could you show the guide using Madagascar as this title uses totaly different VOB, PGC and Cells.
    2. The guide on the post does not show any of your screen shots. All I see is a "Bandwidth Exceeded" where your shot should be and without them some of your refernces cannot be followed as in the guide you will say "this is what you should get" I dont know cause the shot is missing..lol
    3. I am using the newest version of DVDdecrypter and it seems to be able to know which files are corrupted and rip the movie without any manipulation of the files. Does this mean that I should be able to just skip the whole first part of your guide?
    Now I know I am asking a lot but I am new to the world of file coding and such so I am a true newbe. But I would really like to be able to know what this is all about.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

    1. I do not have this movie, so I cannot make up a guide for it. The greatest chance of me getting it is next week when I will also get Skeleton Key & Christmas with the Kranks. Possibly also Ongbak (sorry if I misspelled it).

    2. I will change the piicture host to Imageshack, but in the meantime, send me a PM with your e-mail and I will send you a .PDF of the guide. Also check out this link for a shorter guide using Stealth:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260734

    3. Now, If Decrypter knows which files are corrupt, then rip in File Mode. However, process it through VobBlanker and Blank out PGCs 2, 3, 4, & 5 of VTS_08.

    If you mean about the Corrupt VTS, then you are correct, Decrypter is not fooled by this any more. I included it in the guide because it is still possible to select those VTS manually.

    Also, please feel free to ask as many questions as you like and also write any comments on the guide. I appreciate any feedback.

    Madagascar---- After endless hours of trying to back it up, using different suggestions from others with no success.... I found one
    that was not complicated and very simple to follow and I already had the software: DVD Decrypter and Shrink. A Thankyou goes out to colw
    (Senior Member) 23. November 2005 @ 04:29. It doesn't get any easier than this......

    I can verify the following worked to get a complete backup, not just the movie.

    Using DVD43 in the background (not sure if I needed to or not)

    1. Use DVDFab Decryptor
    2. Open the results up with VOB BLANKER. Leave the settings as default. Just fill out the output section (where you want the finished file to go) and click process.
    3. Use shrink to open file and use as usual.
    4. I used DVD Decryptor to burn, but you could use whatever you normally use I presume.

    This will give you the whole dvd, not just the movie.

    @JauguarGod

    Thanks for the comments about jboonj post. I was wondering how it was determined what the bad cells were.

    When I tried tp use DVD Decryptor to rip with ANYDVD, I get an error saying the DVD (retail) is not mastered correctly and that ANYDVD will be deactivated.

    I cannot get this DVD to rip to my HD...

    Have been trying for hours to burn this movie and am growing frustrated. Everyone mentions AnyDVD, but my trial version has run out and can't download another (any suggestions). Ripped movie with DVDDecryptor, tried to Vob, but get an error message stating "Unsyncronized". I am no techie, so I need the easiest method to burn this movie without having to pitch my computer out the window! I would like the main movie and the Killer penguins Xmas Caper short. I have DVDDecryptor (latest version), DVDFab express, DVD Shrink. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    i did Madagascar effortlessly last night with DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.6.0 (free) then Shrunk with DVD Shrink as normal. what i did do was use my dvd-rom/cd-write combo drive (like io do for most of my ripping); didn't try to rip it on any of my dvd burners as i'd done the movie already but it's always nice to have a couple of optical drives..as if a movie won't play ball on one drive you always have a choice of drives to use..

    @All- re Madagascar - its all good, a few different methods that only work for some are just as good as one method that works for all.

    You will always find many different ways to do the newer encryptions. Everyone should use what works best for them. I always like the easy way out with the least amount of steps. This has been true for about a year now when the first new encrtptions came out. We lost updates on 2 great programs with Decrypter and Shrink but there are always other ones to fall back on.

    @toolcrib,

    Did you try DVD Decrypter in ISO Mode?? Most people have had success doing it that way.

    Hello Jerry746,
    I'm with you on that one !

    I have read threads with 4 pages of explaination.

    1- Use this software, run this.
    2- Then convert with this other software.
    3- Render it with this one.
    4- Re-Author with these settings.

    And yes it works of course !

    What I like is:

    1- Run AnyDVD in the background, and <SMILE> :)
    2- Make some PopCorn while you Shrink and burn in 1 step :)
    3- Watch Movie !

    @cougar, Yep, run Anydvd, and I like to watch the sheep eat the popcorn while using Clonedvd. Either way make it as easy as possible.
