Hi guys, I realize there is PLENTY of information on this but I just can't seem to set it up ??

My problem is that I'm trying to use VirtualDub to joint two AVI files, but it says I don't have a proper decompressor. I downloaded and installed FFDSHOW as recommended in the Virtual dub AVI joining instructions.

But after installing FFDSHOW it still comes up with the same error when trying to open my AVI files in VirtualDub.

I'm assuming I'm missing a step or a setup in Virtual dub to indicate what decompressor to use, but I just can't find it on my own.

    Any help is truly appreciated...

    Thank you

Just found an easier way than messing about with Virtual Dub. If you have Nero 7 you can use Nero Vision 4 to merge the files, convert them and then burn them to DVD. I think if you dont want to burn them you can just merge them then export and save the new file.

If you want to join the avi files and then burn to DVD, do it following the guide http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/308223
It can join multiple video files and burn to DVD.

If you just want to join avi files, many programs can do the work. Search with Google.
