It has been awhile since I reformatted my hard drive and re-installed a fresh copy of windows. So, I was bored tonight and thought why not just do it now. I can usually do this without any problems. However tonight, while reformatting the hard drive (to the NTFS) it stopped at 69% and will not go any further. I tried to shut it down and try again... stopped at the same place. So I thought I would try to just partition the drive, but it will not allow me to do that either. I am trying to do this on a laptop if that is of any help. I am stuck and don't know what to do. Please help me with any suggestions you may have. I fear that I may need a new hard drive and I have no idea what is involved in replacing one in a laptop! Thanks for any all all help!! Y'all are great...

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite model #1805. I am trying to reformat it and install a fresh copy of windows 2000 professional. I would download the diagnostic program for the hd manufacturer if I knew what kind of hd it was. Thanks in advance for your help!!

Ok, I noticed that when I try to reformat the drive, when it gets to 69% I hear a clicking noise. I am assuming that is not good. Any thoughts on what I should do?!

    Thanks
