I would like to know how many chanels the tuner on this unit receives? I am looking for 188, not the 125 so many units have. This does record in stereo doesn't it? I read something about mono and using an old VCR tuner??? I have a TV w/VCR built in, can I record old vcr tapes (shows I recorded years ago) onto a DVD if i reverse the cable setup? (tv to unit instead of unit to tv) Or would it be better to have a vcr feed the unit? This seems to be the least expensive unit with a HD and no subscription is Wal-Mart the least expensive at $278 ?

The tuner is 125 channel and is MONO. You will need a seperate VCR as your TV/VCR combo will not send a signal out. For the price, it is a great recorder. It is also able to use HACKED firmware to add an extra LP 3-hour setting, disable Macrovision and set it to region free.

I hope this helps in your decision
