TURN OFF BOXES TONITE VIRUS GOING AROUND

mines still on watching faking it as i type (we shall not we shall not be moved) HA HA lol.

 

my EV, 2007 version went funky last night at around 11:30pm. It powered on and off and the time changed to 3:20 in the evening and the date went a day forward. All the stations are fine again but when i reset the time the programs are all off by an hour sim to when the clocks changed.
I tried the usual fix of changing time, saving and exit with GMT off. Then doing an autoscan and powering off and back on but it doesn't seem to be working
Anyone have any ideas? Much appreciated

This is what you need to do make sure your cable is connected to the cable input and your scart is on ext 1 or av1

1 go to menu then factory reset password 0000 unless you changed it press ok

2 Then turn your box off at the back and then back on again

3 then select your language from the list that you want

4 Installation select on the top your provider

5 Then do an auto scan

6 Wait for it to finish Then exit out to main tv screen

7 Then press menu press 1570 on key pad and this will bring you to the cas menu on the bottom you will see the EMU scroll to the right and turn this on then exit out 3 times and wait for the codes to update ok that is it

 

i did that mate channels came back in perfect just still says updating how long will it take

 

what was the last code for ntl dublin

ive just only heard this rumour in the last 20mins,im in galway,no problems here at all tonight(but i plugged it out anyhow!!)

in the last week or so the screen goes green when browsing the EPG on a starview 2,box goes off,comes back on with "The Box" white startup screen and either updates or just goes back to the channel i was watching...its this the virus?coz if it is,seems to be able to handle it!!

 

hey, my starview 2 box does the same thing when i use EPG a lot. it goes green, turns off then comes back on, its been happenin since i got it just b4 xmas, same wit my all my mates boxes!!

 

wot about dis "virus"? i got a few phone calls and txts 2day warnin me about it, "turn ur box of b4 12 2nite until at least Monday mornin" they said!!
I'm not an engineer so i did, just incase there is any truth in it (read threads already, i know people r sayin its bulls**t!!!)

What the lads are saying is correct , a virus is a file which is designed to hijack a particular vulnerability in an operating system.Information can be sent down cable that's how normal boxes can receive updates but in the case of these boxes the image(operating system) is stored in a flash memory and the circuitry does not allow for uploads via the cable.This flash memory can only be changed by directly flashing the chip.

They are most likely trying to do something to stop the boxes and the most possible contenders are (1) a downgrading of the signal (thats when you get the tv1 , tv2 etc when scanning (2) Change from Nagravision ( which would need a card change) (3) Automated key code changes to fast for the current algorithms on the current images to handle ie say every minute (4) they could be gathering information from the return path on their boxes to map illegal box usage..

So the boys and girls are right this rumor has been around before but as the saying goes a good thing doesn't last forever and what can be broken can be fixed.

 

So what should I do turn off my box for the weekend or leave it on?

 

Ive had a few of these boxes pass through my palms and on to my friends ;D, as of this morning all of them (eurovox's) are working away fine with full epg etc etc and opening the channels......

couple of the addicts here didn't help the folks who came looking for help yesterday and should hold there head in shame for being kids in there childish reply's.

Incidentally I have 3 in my home, i left 1 off (just in case) and I can guarantee even though they wont admit this that the addicts of bull-shite done the same......

lol - lets keep this going for as long as possible but it will of course come to an end, dont fool yourself into thinking it wont.

 

my eurovox 2007 was off this morning put it to sky sports and was back on in minutes . but my starview box was ok .

 

so is there any reports today of crashed boxes?

 

People where told to ignore these rumours on wednesday but would not listen,all off the addicts in here spend a lot of time helping people with there boxes plus,almost always keep patient with newbies,going into the smallest detail and usually without recieving 1 word of thanks,so when people start the same post over and over, and ask the same questions over and over, about stupid rumours what do you expect mancred?in fact i bet there where people out there with genuine problems left unanswered because most of the addicts just turned there pc's off because they had enough of this garbage,hang there heads in shame!christ i'd love to see the advice you give out and hope for your sake you never need any.
