it works with all games, it just depends on your POT setting. that has been posted in this tut a lot of times, there is a link posted in here on how to fix that setting on your gamecube, please read the entire tutorial before you ask questions. i have said the same thing over and over.

From what I have seen by reading this forum and from my own personal experience, some gamecubes (like mine) will read the games with no problem off of the mini dvd-r while others need the laser "pot" setting fixed to make them work. As far as new games go I have burned some games from this year and they have booted without problem. Of course I always recommend using Ridata G04 mini dvd-r discs because they seam to work the best.

I just got my Max Drive Pro, and I have the same problem. About every second time I get "Hardware error problem." and nothing helps than turning the gamecube off and starting it again. No screens of death so far. Also when loading or saving games from the card it usually takes longer than with a normal memory card. Is there any help to this problem? It took 7 weeks for datel to send me the max drive pro (after sending them a lots of email), and I really don't feel like talking to them again. I wish there is a way how to fix it. Anybody has any suggestions?

Move the .dol to an officially licensed memory card, gets rid of the errors completely.

Maybe I'm expecting too much by hoping everything will work but I've been messing with my laser for a while now. Tales of Symphonia won't load past the "Namco Tales Studio" part right before the FMV and some games won't start. I've tried many settings and it's not working out so well. I've tried games that have loading bars (because none of those work sadly) like Starfox Assault and Chibi Robo.

My GC is Revision 8, I use Ritek G04 (Brand name on disc is Ridata 1.46 GB mini DVD). I also opened my case and tried previously burned Taiyo Yuden (full size) to see if I'd get the same problem and I did. The burner on this computer reads them but doesn't read their full size so I have to use my dad's burner. My dad's burner is TSSTcorp CD/DVDW something.

If you are talking about plugging the card into your PC, just make sure you have prepared it to be read by your PC while connected to the Gamecube. I ran into this same issue and that fixed it for me.

finally, i got the Ritek Minis.
they worked easy as it gets. run MDpro software on GC, run GCoS, put in the burnt minidvd, BAM worked like a charm. no problems YET, burned 3 games, all work perfectly. Burner: NEC ND-3550A. GC Drive 08.
it worked for me, didn't need any laser adjustments.
hopes it works out for the rest of you.

Thought i should share my experiance of MaxD Pro with you guys.
Saw this thread bout 3 weeks ago and thought i give it a try.
Ordered my Max drive pro on a Friday it came on the tuesday (UK) Fast great delivery from Codejunkies so that was great. Had orderd some cheap discs to start, 25 Tuffdiscs pack and 5 Verbatim discs which was slighty more expensive i think. Both DVD-r 8cm.

Follwed the guide and the discs wudnt run i was gutted. But after 10mins all the discs id burnt started to work lol. Guess the laser had changed after 10mins. I read somwhere that it changes after its been on for 10mins or smthing.

The cheap tuff discs gave me DRE's every so often and sumtimes wudnt run at all, so i ran that dvd info and found out the quality of burn was crap on the Tuff discs. On the other hand the Verbatim discs had a good burn at 2x and now i use them and get no DRE's at all.

    so far i have burned....

    Mario soccer
    Fire emblem
    Metroid 2
    Prince of Persia
    Mario Golf
    Beyound Good and Evil
    Naruto Taisen 4
    Skies of arcadia
    F-zero

All work perfectly with no DRE's, did have 1 dre on fire emblem but not had one since and ive put alot of hours in to it.

I def reccomend trying that dvd info tool to see if your burns are crap.

I def reccomend trying that dvd info tool to see if your burns are crap.

is this in nero 6? i wanna check my burns, but where do i find this tool, whats its name and location too....it is part of nero right? dvd info is what it is....and how would i run it to see if my discs are ok, cuz i loaded the dvdinfo from nero on my pc, i get the tabs for options, but i dont see any ability to run a test on the media, so is there something im missing?

    thanks

Its not in nero 6, get the program free from here...
    http://www.dvdinfopro.com/

then run it with your burned copy in the drive, select to do a PI/PO test.If you're average is less then 80 and if your peak less then 500 your disc is fine.

i tried it and found that i had a quality rating of 0% on my crappy tuff discs but a quality rating of 85% on my Verbatim.

    Hey,

(To topic creator) I'm back again, you may remember me. I can get this method to work on my friends GameCube but not mine. I tried pot adjustment but a couple inside screws were stripped bad making it impossible to open without ruining my GCN. Are there ANY really cheap alternatives to running backed up GCN games? My Super Smash Bros. game is getting really scratched, sometimes it doesn't even start so I need a way :(.

I posted on this thread back in the day and I said that (using orange "tuffdiscs") the method didn't work on my cube so i swapped cubes with a friend. After a few months of working perfectly I now sometimes get an error along the lines of "an error has occured, something something disc". Once this happens I have to reboot and re do the whole method. It happens fairly frequently, but seemingly randomly. Still plays original games 100% perfectly. Backup discs arent particularly scratched.
anyone had this? do i need to adjust laser? (cuz I cant really be bothered!)

Ok it finally came in the mail
    I followed the instructions carefully

I have tried booting a game, it's Need for Speed: Most Wanted burnt onto a TDK DVD-R at 2x. I load GCoS and I choose Boot Game. It always succesfully IDs the disc, and I choose A (auto-detect region). It loads and I see the game logos come up and the intro movie start playing, then I get a message "An error has occured. Check the manual blah blah.."

I will burn more games that I've downloaded and let you know how it works out. I will experiment with burning at 4x, ect and we'll see how it works out.

    Are there any suggestions?

I've burned NFS:MW again this time at 4x, and Paper Mario: TYD at 2x, Paper Mario never loads and gets a DRE and also note that the screen is sliding up as if there were a loose cable or something. Burning at 4x didn't make much difference, it either gets a DRE during the main video, or the screen always remains black.

Btw, I have an 08 drive model GC.

I'll be testing it on a friends GC (I believe he has drive 04 or 06) to see if it's my burner/media before I got into adjusting my laser or something.
