TUTORIAL: How to play backups w/o mod chip, only Max Drive Pro Memcard

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Max Drive Pro does NOT work with the Wii.

For some reason the Wii wont even read the disk (but it reads fine on the cube). Basically when you put in the disc it gives you an "unable to read" error. Guess we'll have to wait for someone to crack the Wii, which i dont think will take that long; but who knows.

 

Ah, too bad. Well.. freeloader works on it at least!

 

I planned on buying a Wii this month but geez its out of stock everywhere that is so bs

 

hi, ive got a max drive pro and put gcos 1.x on it. i got some traxdata 4x mini dvd-r which are g04 dye. when i boot a backup copy of mario kart it works ok on the gamecube. the only problem is sometimes the screen flickers like if you have bad reception on an analogue tv signal. sometimes the screen goes completely black and comes back about 5 seconds later. i have two theories why this happens, one - the disc is scratched or not burned perfectly. two - the pot on my gamecube is too high which means it can read the disc ok 90% of the time but fails 10% of the time. i haven't tested the backup disc on any other gamecube yet. does anyone know what i can do to stop this happening? it happens at critical points in the race, screen goes black and i go off course. any help would be great thank you.

 

My friend tested his freeloader on his wii today and it doesn't read it.

 

wont this way work with an SD memory card? if someone was able to post an image of the program it comes with.

 

Actually the Max Drive Pro does work on the Wii if I use Action Replay 1.06 to load it up with Freeloader. However even though it works, gcos1.5 or 1.x does not function correctly as I can load it up but thats it.

I don't think it matters what MDP you get, it will force any region. brucedlx is the one to comfirm this but I'm 99% sure that's right. Soooo if that place has them get you one.

One thing I will mention is if you don't mind modding your cube do it, I think it will pay off in the end. I have the MDP and am happy with it buuuttttt if the kids mess up the disc can I really get another one to replace it? Just something to think about like you guys/gals don't have enough to think about already. lol.

Thanks, but it translates to 70 bucks where I come from, not including shipping+handling, and its PAL, so I'd have to use my armax to swap for it first. An ntsc one for a bit cheaper would be sooo much better if anyone knows of one.

 

I think the site just says PAL because it's a European site. I really REALLY doubt there is a different MDP for one format or another. They should all be universal.

The real problem is getting the disk for your cube that says Max Drive PRO - it has to be the PRO disk. I would guess that any of the max drives that connect to your computer would work, as long as you have the PRO disk.

is this max drive from the MAX site the real deal then? will it allow me to play backups using the method specified , and also, like the previous question, how long is delivery from the site....

i Thought that too but it was the right one with 2 discs. Using it now they sell both versions the max and the max pro, they took about 4 days to deliver.. believe me its the right one people.

 

Yes its the right one with 2 cds, yes it does work with the method specified (its what im using). took about 4 days to be delivered. Guy's no joke this is the real deal you NEED to get your's before they sell out!
