While no one has said, "Yes, I bought it and it worked to load GCos", no one has said otherwise.

Basicly, it should work, no problem. The firmware is the only place they could put the code to not let it work, so that would only be in the Wii. Which, by what i've read & seen, so far means that you can't run Wii homebrew on a Wii, but you can run Gamecube backups & homebrew, & Wii backups.

So, what that tells me, is the new SD adaptor thingy will work no problem for the GC, and should work just fine for loading up GCos on the Wii.

If i hadn't already bought my mod chip, I would of got one of these new SD Adaptors. Now I'm just hopeing they sell them without SD cards, so I can pick one up for cheaper.

It should work no problem, and as I said in another thread, it might be best to get this while it's in stock, since the Max Drive Pro wasn't around super long (and only available from Datel's web site).

Considering that 1 Gig SD cards are around $40 dollars, it's not a bad buy at all.

I guess I will get the SD Media Launcher and keep the AR MAX, I would need it for the Freeloader Technology Right? Or could I sell the AR Max? It's not worth it to return it.

*Update: Ordered SD Media Launcher from Code Junkies...now it's out of stock, who knows...not having much luck.

It says it is, but nobody has gotten one yet, it says it's in stock but I purchased it and it hasn't come in yet, went to backorder.

Yes, it will. I've read other places where people have bought them and used them. You can run gcos on the GC, thus boot backups, and you can run homebrew, well, GC homebrew on the wii.
not sure if gcos will boot GC backups on the wii, I don't think the person had any backups to try.

But it's working just like the SD adapter for the GC does.

I'm going thru my history to see if I can find that page, I will post the link when I do.

nyder, any luck with you chip?

Update, I saw on codejunkies where they have added the max drive pro back up, I called and asked since my media launcher is on back order, he did not know if they were in stock, I will update when I hear back, I don't want to recommend if they are not really in stock, like the launcher was...

I haven't started with my gc mod yet. I've been slowly organizing my place, and I need to finish first so I can have a workspace.

I also need to practice my soldering. I'm going down to get the solder I will need to use (all the solder I have is too thick, need to get some skinny solder) today or tomorrow.

oh, plus i'm supposed to be trading a computer & laptop for an Amiga 1200 (030accel) & monitor that syncs down to 15khz. So I will be playing with that probably for a bit. =)

I was just getting the monitor from him (trading an old laptop I have), and mentioned I'd love to get a 1200 again. He said he had one for sale, and so on.

I would of took the time to make a tutorial or something of the mod chip (not that i'm an expert or anything), but it's sort of pointless this late in the GC's career.

They are 2 different methods for loading GCOS. GCOS is what runs the backups.

Those 2 items makes it easier to run the gcos program. and homebrew.

    Ok heres my question.

Which of the 2 choices would be better?

The SD card way, or the Max Drive Pro Dev3 way?

I noticed that the Dev3 is &39.99 and the SD adapter is $49.99. Can they both do the same thing or can the SD card way do more than the Dev3 or vice versa or something, or are they literally the same besides the way of transfering to gamecube(one being a memory card, other being sd card)?

If anyone out there could help that would be great. Kinda new to homebrew(only thing homebrew i have is a ds) so i dont know that much.

nyder I must thank you for your patience and understanding and extreme helpfulness!! One day I hope to contribute to the scene as well.

.....and yes I would also like to know which one is better if at all a difference

specifically what other devices i would need along with either one

like i wouldnt need action replay, or another memory, or another sd card would I?
All I would need is the codes from online and the back up discs of the games.

ok your only talking about wii?

I'm talking about the wii backwards compatibility with gamecube

which I hope nyder is too.

but i think he's speaking for both GC and GC mode in wii

No, this is pure gamecube, no wii disscussion whatsoever. Gcos doesnt work on the wii even in gamecube mode because of some driver diffrence or something so if you wanna use gcos you will need a gamecube.

A bunch of posts/page up I recall Nyder saying that the gamecube mode in the wii is the same functionality as gamecube and thus the softmod can work

I just want confirmation from him which is right

and if I am able to do it can i do it with only back up discs and the sd media launcher

Max Drive USB Memcard vs Pro

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Is there a difference between the physical memory card itself? I know with the Pro you can load dol's but is the difference only in the gamcube disk? I have a USB one and if I get the pro version of the gamecube disk, would it be exactly like the pro? I've tested abd the card is compatable with the PC version of pro. Thanks.
