hm. i got the newest drivers from the ralink website and installed them, so now i have the buffalo inc option with the proper card drivers in the right pane

only thing is, when i install that i get code 10 for it

so now in device manager there's a nintendo wifi connector with no drivers and some buffalo drivers with no card

Alright, I'm new. I have an issue. I click apply after clicking SoftAP in the ASUS WLAN Card Settings. I set to Soft ap under config, then drag my Local Aera COnnection 2 (my internet) to internet box. Then I un-tick Enable ICS. I click Apply and this error appears.

"Cannot copy driver to system directory."

Help please. I read the fourm from page 1 to page 9. no help.

    -Tyler

    -*EDIT I fixed that problem.

I watched the video exactly and Im at the part where we manually set the ICS.

I click Allow other users to connect through this connection.
Error pops up saying IP is in use.
So I disable the Wifi connector.
Now the part where I can click "allow other users...." doesn't appear.
    Help.

also is it supposed to say Nintendo wifi connector as the drive?

when the OP said the drivers were modified, would that be at all why the newer xp64 drivers i got from ralink aren't working?

the device manager is just seeing these as two seperate devices

Ok, looks to me that you had the wifi connector already installed using the nintendo software. Go back and uninstall the nintendo software and start over as this is were your ip problem stems as the nintendo software is already asigned the ip address that you need. Go back and uninstall the nintendo and do a search of any leftover folders and delete then reboot and proceed with the new drivers

Without installing the new drivers you've got from ralink go back and reinstall the proper ones as indicated, now that you have uninstalled the nintendo drivers and software all should be well

Hey, how did you fix the initial problem. I read the guide and watched the video but it shows that the same copy error "cannot copy driver to system directory" ???

I feel if I can get past this I should be fine.....but it just does not seem to work.... (many people have pointed out a similar problem....did you all give up...how did you fix it? what are possible causes?)

    cheers

    Just to add

I applied the settings I also get the "cannot copy driver to system directory" error.

The only thing that happened different from the video was when I copied the usb.sys file to the system32 file it didnt overwrite anything before.

I got this yesterday and linked it up with the normal software/drivers from Nintendo through my DS to make sure, but removed them completely...so I cant imagine what the issue is.......I doubled checked to make sure the driver was copied to the right directory.....As for the network connections, I have a proset wireless which is disabled, a bluetooth dongle, the normal 1394 connection, and the normal wired LAN connection (which I dragged into the box so I could disable the ICS). Still, after all that, no dice. I would be very happy if someone could suggest some ideas (more complicated than "have you put the right driver in the right directory" at least)

I notice that a few people have had problems with this...For 1 you must enable ICS not disable

    Just follow this setup...

Under The Asus WLAN Card Setting

Click on Config on the left side.

    Basic Tab:

    Network Type:Infrastructure

    Network Name:default

    Channel : 1

    Encryption Tab:

    Network Authentication: Open

    Data Encrption: Disabled

    Soft AP Tab:

    Check The Soft AP Mode

    Check To Enable The ICS

    Access Control Tab:

    Access Control Policy: Accept

Access Control List: This is were you input your mac address of your DS found under Nintendo WFC Settings,Options,System Information there you'll find your Mac Address 00-00-00-00-00-00 eg. Just note this is were you would input additional hardware addresses as well ( PSP, Laptop Eg.). Then of course you click add. Now you'll see that same address under the list of Mac Addresses Allowed To Be On The Network.

Now go back to the basic tab and click on advanced make sure under the 54g Mode its 802.11b only. All the other settings should not to be touched. But if you want to know here's what mine are set to.

    RTS Threshold: 2347

    Fragmentation Threshold: 2347

    Preamble Mode: Long

    Frame Bursting: Disabled

    54g Mode: 802.11b only

    54g Protection: Auto

    Use Short Slot Time: Disabled

Important after making any adjustments to click on OK on the bottom left before closing tab.

Ok try your DS by going into nintendo WFC, then nintendo WFC Settings,Nintendo WiFi Connectin Settings. Erase all previous settings. Now pick a connection 1,2 or 3 now search for access point, after a few moments it should come up with a screen showing a default connection thats unlocked and a signal, Click OK. It will show a new Connection 2 Settings screen press OK again and it will set up your DS connection for you. After its done it should say connection successful and then go back to the Connection setup screen. Now just back out and your ready to Play. If you wanted to go into the connection setup screen again ,you'll see that the connection you choose has changed the erase settings to yellow from white meaning its saved. Now Go Have Fun !!!!

Any problems I'll try to help you figure it out.

You have to copy again the driver file in the "C:\Program Files\ASUS\WLAN Card Utilities\Drivers\Win XP\AP" to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Drivers.

That is what I did to fix it.

I did what you said, "run a search and delete any nintendo files" and im still getting the

"An error occured while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled.

Internet Connection Sharing cannot be enaabled.
A LAN is already configured with the IP address that is requried for automatic IP addressing."

    Any Ideas?

    DISREGARD Last Post.
I fixed it by going to ASUS WLAN Card Settings, under config, SoftAP,
by checking the box for Enable ICS.

    New problem.

I got ot test my connection on my DS, and it has full signal strength, and then error pops up saying "unable to connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Confirm Connecton settings and acesspoint settings."

Uhm the settings for my ds is-

    SSID: 19574
    WEP Key: **********
    Auto-obtain IP Adress: NO
    IP Address: 192.168.1.2
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    Auto-Obtain DNS: NO
    Primary: 192.168.1.1
    Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

    Anything wrong?

I also noticed that under my wireless connection its only sending packets and not receiving any from my ds.

Hey cheers for that.....I am sure it will be very helpful....except two things I have noticed on the ASUS application.... First of all, while I am in infrastructure mode, the channel defaults to auto...only in ad hoc can I select 1.

Secondly, and I am willing to sound completely ignorant for this....where on earth is the "Access control Tab" supposed to be? I found the advanced tab, but I suspect without doing the first steps this will be of little use......

    so, please.....again!

    thanks for the help though...seriously.
