Tutorial - Make Your Nintendo Wifi USB Connector A SoftAP

Ok someone PLEASE help me! How do I use this with homebrew apps. cus i can't seem to get it to work, it works fine for games and my laptop!

 

Okay, now this thing is really starting to piss me off(pardon my language, but that's exactly how I feel). I decided to give it a go again as I have 2 computers now and want to connect them wirelessly, so I installed the stuff on my old computer, which has the fastest internet connection, but my problem is not connecting to the other computer, heck, I don't even have a USB receiver for it. The problem is YET AGAIN, my Wii. For some reason, ALL the different methods that have been posted do not work for me at all. The only thing a connection test comes up with is error code 52031, and I'm really getting MAD! What am I supposed to do? I know it's not my firewall, because even turned off, it still won't give me a successful test. What am I supposed to do?

 

Well, this used to work just fine. Now I set it up per these instructions and eventually I lose wireless connectivity. I restart my PC and I lose my net connection completely. When I right-click on my network connection and choose 'repair' I get an error message stating that it can't begin repairs because TCP-IP isn't enabled. If I go into the ASUS wireless settings and mess around I get an access violation in Wireless.exe. The only way to fix it is to run Comcast's Desktop Doctor, restart, then uninstall and reinstall ASUS etc.

I don't want to do that every few days. Anybody got any ideas?

I think I'm just going to break down and buy a router. Unless someone has some great ideas of course.

 

Great, now from having 1 problem I've got another. I got my Wii working, but now, the problem is my 2nd computer. I bought a D-Link RangeBooster USB Wi-Fi Adaptor to connect it to the Nintendo connector. The problem: no matter what utility I use, whether that of Windows or D-Link, it refuses to connect to my Nintendo connector. Why is it doing this?

EDIT: I can now get a connection between the two, but I can't access the internet. Every time I open FireFox, I get the "Server Not Found" error. What's preventing me from getting internet access? It connects, but it seems like there's no communication between the two.

 

ok so i have everything working the soft ap is working with my ds wii and psp now my problem is.. is there any settings i can use that like gets me a better signal or something because i always have a weak signal and after like 30min the flashing green light on the wifi connector stops flashing so is there any way to get better signal and to keep my wifi on longer?

in the beginning of the instructions, it says to
install the new buffalo drivers from the zip,
i see the files its talking about, but how do i install them??
thanks.. also, this does not affect my broadband connection to PC
in any way right? it should just let me use the wireless on both WII and psp correct?? thanks in advance.

NVM, I fixed it. Stupid Comcast's Desktop Doctor was the problem.

 

ok I have the wi-fi adapter, but I'm connected to the net through a sprint PCS pantec broadband card. I have bridged my wireless adapter in my laptop and the broadband card to share the internet connection.

when I try to apply softap in the configuration the program swithes to station mode, also when I click "soft ap" and try to drag and drop my network connection I get a error message "Access violation at address 0057403F in module "wireless.exe". Read of address 027A3744"

if anyone can give me some advice that would help me greatly.

 

Nearly working, but having IP problems.

Here's what the DS is saying...

Error Code: 52101

Unable to connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Confirm connection settings and access point settings. For help, visit www.nintendowifi.com.

Here's my settings in both the Wireless TCP/IP and what I entered in the DS settings...

SSID NWUSBC
IP Address 192.168.53.1 (DS = .2)
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.53.1 (DS = .2)
Primary DNS 192.168.53.1 (DS = .2)


The thing is, I've changed it to many different things and it's still giving me that IP problem. Ideas?

EDIT Now, for some reason, it's giving me error 51301 when I set Access Control Policy to accept:

Unable to connect to an access point. Confirm Nintendo WFC settings and acces point settings. For help, visit www.nintendowifi.com.

I've tried changing the IP so that the first two sets of numbers match the first two on my LAN...but they don't have to be that way, do they? Can't I just make it 192.168.x.x so that it has no chance of conflicting with a computer on my network?

 

I had this trouble too; the only thing that helped was to uninstall ASUS and reinstall according to this tutorial. Since my troubles seem to stem from Desktop Doctor, this may or may not help you.

 

I've encountered way too many problems with this, and I just want to go back to using the Nintendo drivers. I uninstalled the Buffalo driver no problem, but the stupid ASUS program won't uninstall. Presumably because it's hacked. Will installing the un-hacked version allow for a fresh uninstall? I'm sure it won't cause any conflicts with the NDS client, I just don't want it on my computer anymore :|

 

Ok I have read the entire thread, all 29 pages. I haven't found anything like the error I have gotten. First let me explain, I am a truck driver so therefore don't have constant internet. I downloaded the software and the video followed it to the T on my desktop. worked perfectly! credit to maker.

However I have a laptop, and am trying to get it working on it. I have Vista Home P. I think that it is way uncompatible with that. The nintendo software atleast gets the light to flash.

The buffalo drivers, hang during install. says problem occured installing, install timed out.

If I unplug after the driver install starts it says it completes. then when i plug it in it says it works. but no light.

I have been to Buffalo, Ralink, even nintendo. Ralink had some "vista" download for the 2500 chipset but not a vista folder in that install. tried to edit for install based on the "hacked" driver file..no go.

Buffalo driver download doesn't have vista yet those drivers are kinda old as well..

Does anyone know of a way or has anyone gotten it to work with Vista?
I am not going to install XP just for this. I spent 3months working on getting my hp printer working with it. Besides Vista is pretty. lol

Not sure if this hack works with vista yet. But it sounds like vista does not like the driver or else the connector should flash letting you know the driver is working. Thats all I got right now and after reading your post I'm sure your doing the install correct. If I come up with anything I'll p.m. you, sorry I couldn,t help.

I did it all according to the manual, but 54g Mode still switches to 54g Auto from 802.11b Only seconds after pressing Apply button. What's wrong?

 

Before I post I'd like to thank kcajblue and WDclean for making all of this possible. Honestly, the software for the Nintendo USB connector is junk and doesn't seem to want to work for me, thus I'm here. Thank you!

I did plow through all 29 pages, testing, trying, configuring and ultimately the problem I'm having is on page 26 by the author JeffMan19. (Yes I wanted to make sure I read everything before bothering you all with a "repost" of information). He said he'd send you screenshots, however no resolution to his problem (that I could see) was posted.

Any way you can tell us what happened in order to get this working? I've followed the rest of the steps as well as settings. Thanks in advance!

 

Not sure if we got this fixed or not as we pm,ed this back in forth and has sence been deleted. If I follow you I think your trying to link to a computer thats already linked to another to receive internet. I would start by changing the address of the connector meaning the last few #,s eg. 01 to 11,12,22. You can find this eg. in my setup post later. Leave your computers connection alone (To the other Computer). Not sure if this is your problem but something to try. Post your issue and I'll see if we have an anwser for you. One more thing if this is your problem why not connect to the first computer. Good luck and I'll look for your post. Here's a copy of the setup...

Under The Asus WLAN Card Setting

Click on Config on the left side.


Basic Tab:

Network Type:Infrastructure

Network Name:default

Channel : 1

Encryption Tab:

Network Authentication: Open

Data Encrption: Disabled

Soft AP Tab:

Check The Soft AP Mode

Check To Enable The ICS

Access Control Tab:

Access Control Policy: Accept

Access Control List: This is were you input your mac address of your DS found under Nintendo WFC Settings,Options,System Information there you'll find your Mac Address 00-00-00-00-00-00 eg. Just note this is were you would input additional hardware addresses as well ( PSP, Laptop Eg.). Then of course you click add. Now you'll see that same address under the list of Mac Addresses Allowed To Be On The Network.

Now go back to the basic tab and click on advanced make sure under the 54g Mode its 802.11b only. All the other settings should not to be touched.But if you want to know here's what mine are set to.

RTS Threshold: 2347

Fragmentation Threshold: 2347

Preamble Mode: Long

Frame Bursting: Disabled

54g Mode: 802.11b only

54g Protection: Auto

Use Short Slot Time: Disabled

Important after making any adjustments to click on OK on the bottom left before closing tab.

Ok try your DS by going into nintendo WFC, then nintendo WFC Settings,Nintendo WiFi Connectin Settings. Erase all previous settings. Now pick a connection 1,2 or 3 now search for access point, after a few moments it should come up with a screen showing a default connection thats unlocked and a signal, Click OK. It will show a new Connection 2 Settings screen press OK again and it will set up your DS connection for you. After its done it should say connection successful and then go back to the Connection setup screen. Now just back out and your ready to Play. If you wanted to go into the connection setup screen again ,you'll see that the connection you choose has changed the erase settings to yellow from white meaning its saved. Now Go Have Fun !!!!

Ok I looked at the video and have seen a problem for you to try. In your vid under the Internet protocal/Properties you have your ip address as
192.168.0.130 this is not right and should be...
192.168.0.1 or
192.168.1.1 or
192.168.1.2 give this a try and you should be able to get it going everything else in the vid looked good. Depending what windows has set for your d link ip will determine what ip will work in your case but most likely the first one will work. Good luck and keep me posted.
