Is there any way i don't NEED to like change the wifi settings using my ds? can i just use my computer? cuz i have no ds games righ tnow.... i don't wanna buy one just for this purpose... and i hate my ds lolz.

has anyone got this working with Vista? cause i would love to be able to use my DS online when away from home...since i am a truck driver and gone more than home...my XP desktop at home works great everything including laptop connects. Props for the video it really helped...

garg .. what u mean bye take out the drivers and sofwear like uninstall it .. and alos ... theres nothign in the rar drivers file that lets me intall anything...??? wtf am i doing roung

 

First off uninstall the nintendo software that came with the connector then follow the directions on page 1 and put the drivers where it says and remember to copy over the exitsing driver it says to the whole process takes about 10 mimutes....

 

Hey, I went and bought an ASUS WL-167G wi-fi adapter because my Nintendo WFC adapter broke, since it was only $20. I've followed all the steps in the SoftAP part (since it uses the same ASUS Control Center) because I don't need to hack the drivers...but something's not quite working. I've given my WLAN an IP (different from my school's network), given the DS and PS3 IP addresses on the same subnet, and made sure all the settings match up to the ones you gave...but the devices do not connect. It seems as if they are recognizing the network, but can't access their respective gaming networks (the DS says it can't connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and gives one of those common error codes). I'm certain it's not my school's network, because I was able to use the Nintendo USB dongle and it allowed my DS and Wii to connect to the WFC without any problems whatsoever. So I know it's *possible* to get ICS working right, I just seem to be missing something essential that allowed the Nintendo configuration to work but not this one.

Thing is, I'm pretty good with computers and networking stuff to a certain extent, so I can't even think of where I'm going wrong. I've tried having the DS get an automatic IP, I've turned WEP on and off, I've tried hiding and unhiding the SSID, adding the MAC address...I am at my wit's end. Please help! It's driving me crazy not being able to connect my systems to the internet. It can't be THAT hard, I'm sure, because the Nintendo one worked fine...

Does anyone know exactly what the Nintendo one does as far as ICS and IP addresses are concerned, using the proprietary software? I mean, the only thing that I can think of that is different is that the DS and Wii have options to "Connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector"...but I really don't know how that can be much different than setting it up this way.

If it weren't for the fact that I have a PS3, and intend on getting a 360 soon, I'd just go out and buy another Nintendo dongle. Too bad Microsoft and Sony don't make dongles of their own...ugh, I'm determined to make this work. I just please need some help. If I can get one system to connect I'm confident I can get them all to work...but not even my laptop will connect to it.

When it's "testing connection" it has full bars and everything, but then brings up that error message...I am at a loss.

 

Ok I set it up fine and when I tested the connection on my DS wifi settings it said that the connection was succesful. I then tried to connect with my PSP and while it detects the wifi connector, when I try to connect to the internet it says 'A connection error has occurred. A connection to the access point could not be established. Check the security settings for the network and try again'.

Can someone help. I know I've set everything up right cause I was able to connect with the DS but can't with the PSP.

 

Here try this setup and you should be ok to go!

Under The Asus WLAN Card Setting

Click on Config on the left side.


Basic Tab:

Network Type:Infrastructure

Network Name:default

Channel : 1

Encryption Tab:

Network Authentication: Open

Data Encrption: Disabled

Soft AP Tab:

Check The Soft AP Mode

Check To Enable The ICS

Access Control Tab:

Access Control Policy: Accept

Access Control List: This is were you input your mac address of your DS found under Nintendo WFC Settings,Options,System Information there you'll find your Mac Address 00-00-00-00-00-00 eg. Just note this is were you would input additional hardware addresses as well ( PSP, Laptop Eg.). Then of course you click add. Now you'll see that same address under the list of Mac Addresses Allowed To Be On The Network.

Now go back to the basic tab and click on advanced make sure under the 54g Mode its 802.11b only. All the other settings should not to be touched.But if you want to know here's what mine are set to.

RTS Threshold: 2347

Fragmentation Threshold: 2347

Preamble Mode: Long

Frame Bursting: Disabled

54g Mode: 802.11b only

54g Protection: Auto

Use Short Slot Time: Disabled

Important after making any adjustments to click on OK on the bottom left before closing tab.

Ok try your DS by going into nintendo WFC, then nintendo WFC Settings,Nintendo WiFi Connectin Settings. Erase all previous settings. Now pick a connection 1,2 or 3 now search for access point, after a few moments it should come up with a screen showing a default connection thats unlocked and a signal, Click OK. It will show a new Connection 2 Settings screen press OK again and it will set up your DS connection for you. After its done it should say connection successful and then go back to the Connection setup screen. Now just back out and your ready to Play. If you wanted to go into the connection setup screen again ,you'll see that the connection you choose has changed the erase settings to yellow from white meaning its saved. Now Go Have Fun !!!!

Any problems I'll try to help you figure it out.

 

Try the above setup and let me know if this fixes the problem. Sounds like just a wee tweak needed... maybe 54g Mode: 802.11b only. Just going to bed but I'll check back.

Thanks heaps for taking to time to help man. I did what you said to do and it found the access point but then when when it was testing the connection (in bold above) it comes up with an error code: 52000 saying 'Unable to obtain an IP address. Move within range of the access point or check DHCP settings'.

Oh and I also tried the same thing on my PSP and a similar message comes up saying 'A connection error has occurred. The attempt to obtain the IP address timed out.' Any idea what's going on? Thanks

Edit: Yay nevermind it's working now! I did what you said except with your method, when you choose 1,2 or 3 and search for the access point and find it, the 'Auto-obtain IP Address' is set to Yes which is why neither my DS nor PSP could obtain an IP address. So I changed it to No and put in an IP address with the same subnet as my computer's IP (as explained in the tutorial), along with the subnet mask (255.255.255.0), gateway and primary DNS (same as wifi connection IP) and now both my PSP and DS work perfectly.

So while I can't, are you able to connect while leaving your 'Auto-obtain IP Address' to Yes?

Your not running wep or an ssid are you if so then change these and disable your wep and or return the ssid to default. This should fix your auto obtain issue. The only other thing off the top of my head is I find sometimes my connector goes into a sleep mode, while it shouldn't sometimes it does and then I just unplug and then plug back in. I'm sure not your problem but just thought I'd let people know.

were do i put the drivers that came with folder... it dosnt really say anythign .. jsut says to intall themm .. but like there nothing really in the folder .........wtf .. i no im probly a moron .. but.. ya plz help
