http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/1658/az8ef.jpg 10 minutes, good amount of seeds... Not really 80 is it.. and I turned off my firewall btw.
Dojuh, The conclusion is that you are either on a college netowrk which blocks bandwith, or an ISP that blocks bandwith. If its the ISP try downloading at 2am or later (up until about 9am) as most ISPs allow full bandwith during these periods.
Hi! First of all thanx for the guide!!! I have a question... I've seen in a lot of download sites a program called "BitComet Acceleration Patch", it claims to boost your download speed to at least double. Now, is there anyone out there who has tried it??? Does it really work??? Javier (n00b)
@ Javier, I don't think so check this thread, http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/228339 @ Anyone who can prove they have a good ratio, PM me and i will invite you to Midnight-Torrents, I open only to trade though (Invites to other sites demonoid, oink.. etc) http://www.midnight-torrents.com/index.php , Very nice site which requires Invites and I have a few to give away
I once got up to a 25 ratio on a 698MB video. Nice guide J-Kwon. Really like BitLord. BitTornado uses too much RAM for multiple dls.
Man I've been with Bitsoup and Araiditracker for god knows how long, Public trackers are for those people who don't want to register with a site that might get raided I have high speeds anyway, 120KB/s on 1meg aint bad Rikoshay, Artic Torrent may be a better solution, find the link on the first page. It doesn't use alot of CPU and RAM
Added to guide - [bold]BitTorrent Jargon & Language Explained[/bold] Next you need to understand the language and how it works. Here's a rough translation: A Seeder = the one(s) with the file A seeder is uploading, to get a file you need at least 1 seed in the swarm A Leecher = the one(s) without the file (also known as a peer) A leecher is downloading from a seeder (and most of the time is also uploading to other peers/leechers too) A Tracker = the thing that keeps track of who has what and what pieces There are many trackers out there, some public and some private A Swarm = the group of computers involved with any one particular torrent. The number of computers that the swarm contains is found by adding the number of seeds to the number of peers. Ratio = the amount you have downloaded compared to the amount you have uploaded. Also referred to as your stats. If you use Bit Torrent you MUST upload/seed as much as you download/leech. Reseed = asking someone to repost a torrent that has no seeds
I dont know why everyones having so much trouble. The only trouble I have is lime likes to eat resources and freeze. Other than that...I have seen times when I hit a 1000 kbs downloading ten movies. I have a 4 mb down 4ook up I believbe. No firewall on except for the router and im running cable broadband. The secret is is you need to tweak the registry so you can download faster. Testmy.net has a forumn with some good proggys like cable nut. Xp smoker does a good job of optimizing the ccnnection and so does speed up my pc.
Hey ozzy, xhexk your stuff out Cablenuts I don't know if I have chosen the right Van???? guide thing 1.5mbps I think IN The version 2 Anyway I have xp Home, Haven't notcied much difference any advice? Thanks J
Hey J-Kwon: I'm not really worried about CPU and RAM consumption, since I rarely use over 300MB from my 1GB of Kingston, and my 2700+ Athlon XP can handle most programs with little resistance. I'm just saying that It's a hell of a lot better looking for torrents, but I seem to have problems with multiple dls (maybe it's because I'm running on Dial-up right now! But it does work faster than BTorn). I'm worried more about bandwidth consumption, mainly due to the dammned firewall my ISP put into the modem. I keep looking for an answer to solving that, but it seems noone knows how to go about that. Does anyone know how to remove an ISP's firewall when you DON'T have a router to go through? (sorry, but I just want to get this out there in as many places as I can think of.)
im using the g604t modem, but i dun have the PORT FORWARDING section in my modem's setup.... help........ im also using zone alarm and have enabled ports 6881-6889 and 65535. i filtered out those ports using my modem too. can someone help me out? my email's
Arggggggggggggggh emails, bob edit yours out and you to jonchan. @ Jonchan I'm not sure what your wanting to do? @ Rikoshay try phoning them up? or emailing them?
oh, i wanna configure bitlord. ok i must organize my stuff. 1)wanna config bitlord 2)followed your tutorial 3)the portforwarding.com has my modem g604t 4)however i do not have a certain section in my modem configuration (port forwarding) 5)wondering if u can help me... thanks.....
Go into Bitlord option, change your listening port to 65535 Then access this page and use 65535 instead of the default number it tells you, follow the instructions http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DSL-G604T/default.htm Then read the bit on checking if your port is open
Hey J-Kwon: Thanks for the tip, but I'm working to remove the firewall w/ the IP address change-thing that It has. I think it worked, but BitTornado still has a firewalled setting on it, so I not. I'll tell when I do, but for some reason, the process takes a really long time to load. Late.
