I tried to play some DVD's in my system using Power DVD and Windows media player. Some DVD's would not play or even recognize as media at all. Other DVDs worked perfectly. I need some help to figure out why some work and some don't. All titles were retail movies, not a homemade DVD.

    Dear pinkbb,
This usually means that the needed codecs are not installed, tho' in some cases the softwares would still won't work even with the needed codecs.
In your case, I would recommend dowloading the k-lite codec pack (full version better) alongside with media player classic. Try here:

    Happy DVD viewing!
