I started a thread yesterday, but when I went to add a reply I couldn't. The preview worked ok, but when I hit "Reply" the text disappeared and all I had was the same screen I had when I was composing the post just like I deleted the message and title. I tried it two more times and the same thing. I then tried to post that experience here, but the same thing.

What, you are only allowed one post per session?? I'm running Opera V10.61 which is W3C compliant.

    BTW, when I validated this page it returned 40 errors and 51 warnings from here;

These two posts were done in Firefox since I can't even start a thread.

The other 'odd' thing, I just successfully sent a message using the "Contact Us" at the bottom of the main page with no issue in Opera.

    Is this some Java issue??

Testing again ... the reply above was using Preview first, so this time no preview ...

... note, this is using Opera 10.70 build 9053 (a test build). I may try again in 10.62 if this reply works properly.

It works if I use Preview, and then edit the reply! :(

Their software sucks! When it doesn't work (99% of the time) it takes you back to the forums home page. I e-mailed this 'IDGTechNetwork' which I assume writes this lame software to see if I get a response since no one here seems to know or care.

never had a problem Bruce.. over 6 or 7 years now.. must be some stupid opera problem. AFAIK the actual forums software is in house.. always has been (and hence is rather leaky and open to cross site attacks)

I think you should have a proper look at what you have running.. especially with regard to flash and java. I use FF with adblock and noscript with only certain things allowed.. mostly because that java and popups nonsense annoys me.

post works first time.. so does edit

    1. This site fails W3C validation (as usual with sites that have problems),
    2. They use some unheard of forum software,
    3. The only "stupid" thing is your comment about Opera which, as I stated is W3C complainant,
    4. You fail to mention what browser you are using,
    5. I have read other complaints about this V4 forum software, the supposed fact you personally haven't had a problem means nothing,
    6. Out of the dozens of other forums I post in, this is the only forum that has this problem.

Post works fine here, if ... I don't use 10.6x (the stable version of Opera).

i use Mozilla's SeaMonkey and have never had an issue on the forums, Opera has been known not to play nice with certain sites, Afterdawn is one of those sites. opera even had issues with the old aD.

one of the reasons i moved away from the Opera browser, is its very tight coding. which like I've said doesn't play well with certain sites.

I didn't see the "FF" at the end of the line.
Hence the W3C complaiance which I already mentioned. After reading all of the comments, I see no one has addressed this sites failure with W3C validation.

As far as certain sites not "playing well with Opera", they are usually ones written for Idiot Exploiter and their 'loose & sloppy, anything goes' coding.

None of the above implies that some fault doesn't fall with Opera, but since Opera didn't write W3C standards and is W3C complaiant and this site isn't, AFAIC the burden of blame is here.

    Let's see ... using Opera 11.0 pre-alpha.

As you can see, works perfectly.

Then you better talk to them, the ones that write the standards for the WWW.
It's not MY software, just the software I use. I'm sure others have the problem, they just ditch the site since they don't want to bother taking the time as I have to post the problem.
Funny, all the other sites I visit don't have this problem.

Of course, all of the above doesn't include the lame login process. The link that was e-mailed brings you to a page that has the Login link hidden at the top of the page, barely noticeable, coupled to the fact Opera's "Wand" feature doesn't work (don't know about the similar feature in FF).
