AFAIK, the cable connectors are pretty much all the same. It's how they are wired that differs. They will swap the pin connections around on the PSU side from manufacturer to manufacturer. You will more than likely be able to physically connect the cables but upon firing up the PSU, it may not stay up or will put voltages on the wrong pins going to the cards, etc. When you buy a new full modular PSU they will give you a bag full of the cables that you need to use to hook up all of your gear. You need to use the provided cables even though it might seem like a pain in the butt to have to rewire your whole rig. It gets to be even more of a pain if you customized the lengths or added sleeving. In this case you would be better off swapping around the pins on the PSU side to match the new one but it doesn't sound like you have to worry about that at all.

BTW, Seasonic PSU's are generally built better than most others and to be quite honest they private label PSU's for some of the the other major brands anyway. I think you can tell who actually made it by using the UL id or some other id number on the label of the PSU to check against a list. Here is a link to the checker. --> http://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/template/LISEXT/1FRAME/gfilenbr.html I haven't used it in a long time but all I can assume is that it is still current. Here is a guide about PSU's and such to help you decide which one to buy. --> http://forum.pcmech.com/threads/wha...w-many-watts-who-made-it-guide-inside.208143/ The forum post is from 2009 but I believe it is constantly being updated.

I had a problem similar to yours several years ago except the time before the abrupt power shutdown would vary, sometimes a few minutes, sometimes several hours. I got the ram supplier to send me new ram. I got the motherboard maker (Abit) to send me a new board. Finally I tried a new PSU and, bingo! If I happened on your topic here earlier I would have recommended the PSU replacement FIRST!

This is an old PC support thread that collected info on bad PSUs.

It hasn't been updated for quite some time but perhaps it will be interesting and useful to others reading here.
