    I am getting an "unknown flash type" when I try to flash my Chameleon chip. Can someone guide as to what to check for. I already have "Flash = 0xbf61,"SST - 49LF020",0x40000" in my evox.ini file. Thanks for any help.

    Not sure if this is the same method for the chameleon chip, not even sure what type mine was but I was actually having trouble playing certain backup games in my box so I followed this method instead of using a patch every time. First went to http://www.biteable.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ and downloaded the X2 4976.02 which includes 6 different colours. I actually d/loaded the X2 4976.02 which included the IGR file aswell but this file was too big and the xbox rejected it. I have found out later this file does work if you drag just the 256kb file only across to your xbox. This file actually worked better than the multi colour ones.
    As long as your mod chip is flashable you can use this method which I found at http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/evox-flash.php if not u could probably find another guide in the same link. I'm not a great wiz at this sort of stuff but with determination, worked it out. I opened flashfxp and clicked on the "C" drive of the xbox, found the evox.ini file, right clicked on it and clicked edit. Might be a good idea to print this ini file out just in case you stuff it and can't remember the layout. I then added the two flash conversions shown in the above link e.g "Flash = 0xbf61,"SST - 49LF020",0x40000" and typed it in above the others,located under the Bios section and exited. The computer then told me to save changes to ini file and do I want to post updates to xbox, which I did. I then dragged the new bios I d/loaded earlier over to the "BIOS Folder" on the xbox. Got off the computer and with the xbox controller clicked on "Launch Menu" then clicked on "Flash Bios". The new folder I dragged had shown on the menu now, clicked on it and pressed "Y" to flash. The xbox erased the old bios and uploaded the new one and then shut itself off. The rest is history because that simple process must have taken me about 3 days to workout. Hope this helps any other newbies out there. "peace!"

    Doesn't help ozy. I already mentioned I had those lines in my evox.ini file. I installed a bunch of Chameleon chips and I never ran into this problem until recently. Did the flash type on the Chameleon change?

    Just found the solution to my problem if anyone is interested. Replace/add these lines to your evox.ini file.

    Flash = 0x04d5,"FUJITSU - MBM29F080A",0x100000
    Flash = 0x04a4,"FUJITSU - MBM29F040C",0x80000
    Flash = 0xadd5,"Hynix - HY29F080",0x100000
    Flash = 0xadb0,"Hynix - HY29F002",0x40000
    Flash = 0x20f1,"ST - M29F080A",0x100000
    Flash = 0x20B0,"ST - 29F020",0x40000
    Flash = 0xbfb6,"SST - 39SF020",0x40000
    Flash = 0xbfb7,"SST - 39SF040",0x80000
    Flash = 0x04BA,"ALX2+ R3 FLASH",0x40000
    Flash = 0x378c,"AMIC - A29002",0x40000
    Flash = 0x01d5,"AMD - Am29F080B",0x100000
    Flash = 0x015b,"AMD - Am29LV800B",0x100000
    Flash = 0x01a4,"AMD - Am29F040B",0x80000
    Flash = 0x01da,"AMD - Am29LV800B",0x100000
    Flash = 0xda0b,"Winbond - W49F002U",0x40000
    Flash = 0xda8c,"Winbond - W29f020",0x40000
    Flash = 0xc236,"MACRONIX - MX29F022NTPC",0x40000
    Flash = 0x89a6,"SHARP - LH28F008SCT",0x100000,0x20,0xd0,0x10
    # for Matrix/Xodus
    Flash = 0xbf61,"SST - 49LF020",0x40000
    # for Xecuter2
    Flash = 0x01d5,"XECUTER2",0x100000

    ...now I can flash my new Chameleon chip with another BIOS.
