Thanks for the info Joe, much appreciated. I used an unlock code from another site. My phone is unlocked, but I did not insert SIM to unlock it.The message "phone unlocked" appeared. When i insert the SIM card, message "no network coverage" appears. The sim was blank, and was provided with my upgraded phone. I was hoping to use the spare nokia phone as an emergency backup for my kids..but I guess just unlocking it wont give me free access to use it..Thanks..Mike
4056 Once unlocked, it should work. Make sure the SIM has been Activated and has credit. Go into the Phone settings and make sure Network selection is in AUTO. Where are you trying to use the phone? JG
Hey Joe. I have 2 other cell phones on a monthly plan with lots of airtime. This third Nokia 3220 phone is my old one, thus the SIM card is blank (came with new phone, used existing SIM in upgraded phone)I'm located in Ontario Canada, right on NY Border..I catch the Cingular tower from Syracuse often with my cell phones, but Rogers is the usual network. My 3rd Nokis phone will not work at all unless my SIM is programmed ..right? Thanks for the info Joe...Mike
If you want to use Cingular, you'll need a good Cingular sim to try. The SIM must be activated. Not sure what you mean "blank". If you allow the SIM to expire, it will be of no use. Good luck. JG
