Unlock Nokia 6230

can anyone please help, i've unlocked a couple of nokias in the past but i'm having trouble with this 6230.
i've generated the codes, but when i input them into the phone, literally nothing happens, the number just stays on the screen mocking me.
anyone got any ideas???

If you are Sure you have the right code, insert a sim card from another provider and when it says phone restricted, press undo and enter the code.
I'd hate to suggest you don't do your own phone.

i done what you suggested and it worked a treat.
but now when i put the new sim card in, it switches on and everything, but it does not detct any signal from orange.
any ideas mate.

by the way, the phone is not nicked
my girlfriend brother got a new phone just a few days ago and gave her his old handset

Any messages when you switch on?
What code did you use?
Is the Orange SIM account activated? Try a known good sim from a friend and see what happens.

The sim card i've tried is spot on, works fine.
When i put it in this phone, the phone switches on fine, but on the main screen there is a small square with a question mark in the middle, and no signal.

can't remember the code exactly but it was the first one on the list

First try the old sim and see if the phone works. If it does, try a new unlock code. Without the sim and then with a non O2 sim.
Use code # 7.

Very interesting. The T-Mobile USA is on a different Band. That may be why it works there. These are the only codes I have for your phone. Each phone needs a unique code for that phone and Network.
I hope you have not tried any other codes. If you have one of those SIMs from Venezuela use that. A Digicel sim might work. Digicel is on the same band as T-Mobile USA so it may not say "Phone restricted".
