    hi there,

just trying to unlock the old 8gb hdd from my xbox to use as a memory card of sorts.

i've put it in a usb enclosure and it will show as being installed fine in device manager but not show up in my pc or disk management.

a little bit of googling show that this maybe because it is locked.

i have d/led atapwd, but how do i go about running this?

can it or a different program be run direct from win xp?

all i need to do is get the hdd formatted to fat32.

    thanks for any help provided!

You have to unlock it in order for your pc to recognize it, search here for "Xboxhdm" you'll need some info from the system it came from, which I'm assuming you still have, hopefully. More info can be found in those tutorial threads. Once it's unlocked, you can have all kinds of fun, but it's important to know you'll never be able to make any kind of "Easily interchangeable device" that can be accessed by both the pc and the xbox, unless your xbox has a modchip, that is.

oh i don't need it to go back in the xbox.

this is what i want to do with it:

    http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Mods/bet_my_xbox_memory_card_is_bigger.htm

create an 8gb memory card to transfer my xbox saves from one to another.

could this be used to somehow transfer xbox saves to the 360?

thanks for the help handsom, i still have that xbox so i should be able to find what i need :)

I see, pretty cool. That sites a great resource, very reliable.

As for connecting it to your 360.... I'm not sure if it would read it or not; but it's worth a go, most definitely. Very intriguing idea. I don't think games themselves would seek out saves on the drive; but something tells me that you might(And that's a BIG theoretical) be able to copy them to your 360 that way. Worst case scenario; you could use a 360 hdd transfer kit to do that part for you.

    Best of luck!

thanks, about the transfer kits though.

i thought that was only between 360 and pc and not xbox to 360 (or xbox > pc > 360).
