I have 2 phones with the same company and different accounts. I want to use only one account with the other phone but they want to charge me to unlock it. Is there a way I can do this myself?

I see... I wonder if my recent labotomy had anything to do with it. I have a Motorola V551. Since I tried to mess with it before, when I put my other SIM card in, I get a message "Contact Service Provider". I was thinking about taking the thing apart and shorting the main board to clear it - no power, the ol' tinfoil method for PC's. But there would still be the elusive unlocking issue.
Obviously I'm not a cell phone tech at all, any ideas you might have would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
