upgrade or what

    Device manager, select it and go properties. If the burner works if you change its settings around, the problem is to do with your IDE channels not the drive itself.

    i just checked my ide channels i have 2 of them, and under add hardware it sais that they're both working properly, and if there is a probelm what can i do to solve it?

    Make sure everything's plugged in and set up in the BIOS correctly. Ensure that your drivea are given proper priority in the BIOS.

    if its comming up in my computer than doesnt it mean its in proper condition under Bios, the problem now is that my old cd rom isnt under it

    it would, but of course if the problem switches from one drive to another when you change their configuration, the problem is with that configuration rather than the drives themselves.
