I am having the same problem as Lewda99...

I have already softmodded my xbox, I have two dashboard: UnleashX and EvolutionX, everythin is fine so far. I now want to replace the original xbox hard drive with a newer WD 160 GB drive. I FTPd over my C: and E: drives from the xbox as well as the EEPROM bin file. I followed the exact steps to make the bootable hdm cd. I opened up my computer (I have one HD in it as Primary Master and I have two cd drives on Secondary Master & the other on Secondary Slave). I unplugged my HD in the computer and hooked up my new HD to it. When I turn on my computer, it finds the HD then the linux cd boots up and I see the options. I choose "1" and then press enter. It loads a couple of files then my computer gets restarted again. I never get to the screen where i have to enter "xboxhd". Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance.

SOrry about the last post, i guess i just freaked...my computer recognized the hard drive after abou the third reboot.

All Right, I uninstalled the softmod i had and modded my xbox using the softmod tut on this site. I dont have E:\ backup_linux\ on my xbon after the softmod. I do have an eeprom bin file (256 kb) at E:/UDATA/21585554/000000000000/backup/eeprom.bin so i used this file to put into the linux folder of the hdm cd folder. Then i transferred over the C: and E: drives. I made the boot cd and this time i used my 9 year old computer and voila! i was able to press "1" and then able to type "xboxhd" and follow all of the steps.

Now, where i ran into a problem was when i needed to lock my HD (it is WD 160 GB WD1600JB - 00GVA0, which i found online is lockable). When I try to lock the HD, after about 1 min, i get a message saying fatal error and bunch of other stuff. Could the problem be my eeprom file, because i noticed that when i transffered it from my xbox to my computer the size is now 1 KB, but when i right click then properties, it says the size is 265 KB and that size of disk is 4KB.

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. Thanks once again.

Yahoo333: Stop freaking out, if at first you dont suceed retry, also ensure you got your c: and e:

jxp2307: you may have got the wrong eeprom.bin, put old one in and redo backup from evox then try again, if you have another pc try that

chief424: a spanner? not sure what your asking, be more clear

Alright... Is it possible to have more than one eemprom on my xbox? Could I have put my softmoded eemprom on my xboxhdm 1.9 disc?

If that is what I did, how do you guys think I should go about finding the REAL eemprom on my xbox?

    Am I even making sense?

Chief424: What tut are you looking at...I have the same dashboard and was successful in softmodding my xbox using this tut:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/311710

...just having problem locking my HD.

error55o: Yeah, I'm still having the same problem. I followed someone else's advice to load the save game while the game is in the xbox (007 is what i used for the exploit) and FTP the C: at the installation menu b/c this is the real C: not the virtual C: SO I did this and made a new iso and burned it, but i still get the same error message. Anything else you (or anyone else can think of?)

Try redoing the back up of the original hard drive's c and e, I know it sounds stupid but sometimes FTP messes up a transfer or two, while its in there redo your eeprom.bin too, I had a bad FTP copy when I did mine but I then used XBMC to copy all the c and e drives over to my pc (just like using on old explorer that has network connections via SMB)

Try it, It may just work this time

Also try a differant computer, I had issues with 4 of the 5 I have

yahoo333: copy the C and E you cvan see, dont worry if it's not the proper C, the softmod uses the virtual c to protect your EEPROM.BIN
so copy the c and e you can see.

Chief424: Not too sure about how that tut would work out (never tried it)...i would suggest that you use the one i linked earlier. I was fairly quick and easy. You can ask me for any help you may need. Here is another tut that i have tried and it worked just fine, it requires pretty much the same equipment (your dashboard version will work). THere is also a video on the top of the page that you can follow, you cant mess it up.

error55o: I think thats what i will do, i only tried it on two computers, i will have to look around to try a few more now that i see that it took 5 computers for yours to work, thanks man.

jpx, i had some trouble similar to this. i ended up using my emmprom to lock my bro's new harddrive. unfortunately i didnt notice that until it was too late(long story). but at any rate evox is the best to start out with until u get a good grasp on everything. this is wut u need to do after evox is installed. if u have it as ur boot dash then go to settings and select backup. afterwards create a ftp connection from ur computer to ur xbox. go to the C drive of ur xbox and there should b a folder called backup. that's the emmprom u wanna get. make a new xboxhd cd and try that.

    hope that works

    GOODLUCK

Well, I unmodded my xbox, and then remodded it. I took the eeprom that that generated, and made a new xboxhdm disc. Worked like a charm!!

Only problem is that now when I try to play a game from my new hd, it seems to lock up....

    Any ideas?
