yes i did that, i did a search found where the eeprom file was, from my old xbox hd udata folder, then made the disk and did everything again, and still, turn xbox on goes right to customer service screen.... Anybody else have any ideas... Same as you, when i hook my modded stock xbox drive in to xbox booots right up and functions properly.

Are you putting the eeprom on the xhdm CD or a Floppy ? .. Another thing are you sure the HD your using for the upgrade is lockable ? Also make sure your upgraded HD is set to "Cable select" before you put it in your Xbox. I'm lost on what to do :(

I fixed my problem, Thank God, The problem was for some strange reason i had system files in my e drive, so when i re copied everything over into xboxhdm, instead of just the c drive i put both the c and e and it worked...

Also just to add my pc also said frozen drive, i went into the bios and under primary whatever you were able to switch it to removable storage, im pretty sure its the same for most PC's. you had to use the plus and minus, you couldnt just press enter on auto detect FYI.

    Yeah, thats the directory

    [bold]E:\Udata\000000\8125582\backup [/bold]

Thats the EEPROM I'm using...my xbox has no problem seeing the drive once i hook it up, but i lose my softmod when i boot up with it - it goes to the MS dashboard

Any of course my original softmodded drive (which i am backing the C: and E: drive from) works fine. Maybe tonight I'll try another drive, although I looked this one up and it says its compatible.

Ok, I'll explain the entire process as clear as i can. I currently have a softmoded XBOX. I wish to simply upgrade the 10gig HD to a 40gig - and keep my softmod intact. So I:

1 - copy the C: and E: to the appropriate folder
    2 - copy EEPROM.bin to E:\Udata\000000\8125582\backup
    3 - build the ISO
    4 - burn the ISO
5 - load HD on spare PC
6 - boot off CD and follow instructions (everything goes smoothly)
7 - load new 40gig HD to xbox

After I boot, i go straight to MS dashboard. And I cant load burned games or copy any files via FTP to the SNES\ROMS folder. If i switch back to my original (but softmodded) HD everything works.

I must be missing something, i still think its the eeprom.bin file.

    Does that clarify?

Just copy C: and E: make the Image and lock the HD..OK , Put the upgraded HD in your Xbox and Reinstall the Softmod/Dash on the upgraded HD ... That is why you copy C:& E: from xboxhdm . OK, On the upgraded HD's "MS Dash" you can't see C:& E: but It's on the upgraded HD ..."needs to be modded to see the partitions" .... what you need to do Is softmod the upgraded HD bud .Once the soft mod is on you'll see that C: and E: are there . Just do the usaual , Back up eeprom , mod , ms dash , then install Unleash or Evox then you'll be set :) if you need more help i have MSN Messenger i'll help you, i'll talk you thru it or something .

(Reason you cant FTP or play game backups is because there is no softmod on the upgraded HD ) Your "upgraded" HD needs to have a Softmod to play backups & the ability to FTP
Everything you need is on there but the Softmod , Hope you get what i'm saying ? :(

I do get what your saying. and I tried that, the first time i did the HD upgrade it brought me to MS dash, so i re-softmodded it. Then i FTP'd in and my C: was completely empty. So i tried to copy my emulator ROMS back over and it kept giving me errors like i didnt have access. all of this was AFTER i resoftmodded it.

A buddy at work used this tutorial and said he didnt have to re-softmod his xbox (I know this is true casue he doesnt know how to softmod it). It just seems mine isnt going as smooth as his and doesnt function as it should.

I may bug you on MSN later on (in like 2 hrs from now) when i get a chance to take another stab at it.

Thanks for all your help so far :)

I get this msg after I run the linux boot CD and attempt to lock the drive:

    [bold]
    Security supported: yes
    Security enabled: yes
    Security locked: no
    security frozen: no
    security count expired: no
    [/bold]

does this mean the drive is locked or isnt?

    Thanks

Ok sry for the stupid question but Im slightly new at this. I extracted the make-win-iso commmand prompt and used it and it made the linux.iso file. How the heck do ya burn in to a CD, its WAY too big to fit, i know how to make an iso image cd but IT WONT FIT!!! i know the answer is going to be incredibly easy, but hey, if ya dont know ask right?

Burn it on a DVD if you can . If not, don't add E: as it is'nt required .

Well problem is i have DVD drive but no DVD burner, and plus im not adding everything to the CDRW, im and just trying to add the ISO file and it maxes out the CD, its like 1 GB+ in size, so are you telling me I need a DVD burner, cause if thats the case, that sucks

The problem you have is 1GB+ worth of information trying to cram it on a CDRW, won't work ... When you make the win.bat.iso. just add files to C: don't use E: .... Then just add the stuff later . I know you don't want to loose your info from E: but it is the only way to get a working ISO that will burn on CDRW media . Sorry :/

No no no you misunderstand me. Im not putting anything on the CDRW other than the linux.iso file. That file ALONE is 1GB+, I havent even put the C or E on the CD yet. The ONLY thing on the CD is linux.iso and its way 2 big. I run the program and it takes about 5 minutes to make the file and then I try to burn and its too big for the CDRW. So obviously Im doing something wrong.

Are you "right clicking" the Linux ISO and opening It with Nero burning Rom ? ,or are you just trying to burn the Linux ISO file to a Data disc ?

Do you have to use Nero? Because Im trying to burn the iso image with adaptec easy cd creator, cause you can do it with that program, the file is just too big. If all I needed this whole time was Nero Im gonna throw somethin! lol

Yeah , You should use Nero ... Its best for ISO's and almost any file , download a trial of Nero or something ..

    >Im not putting anything on the "CDRW "other than the "linux.iso" file. That file ALONE is 1GB+, I havent even put the C or E on the CD yet.

Something is wrong then . there is no way the Linux ISO should be that big '1GB+" and you did'nt even add C: or E: partition files .

Haha yeah I know somethin is wrong, thats why I came here. I havent downloaded Nero yet, cause I got dialup, Im gonna get my friend to do it for me. But I found on Xbins somethin about with UnleashX v.39 that you can do all this stuff with just the Xbox, any ideas on both of these things?

Better yet, instead of fixing whats wrong with my .iso file, could someone FTP theirs to me? Not the whole zip file, just the linux.iso file.
