I changed my build aroun. Please tell me what you think Mobo: MSI P45D3 Plat.,P45,S-775,DDR3,2000FSB 109 Proc: Intel Core™ 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz Socket 190 Ram: Crucial DDR3 1066MHz 4GB KIT, CL7 70 Graphics: Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 171 HDD: WD Caviar® Black 750GB, 3,5", SATA 76 DVD drive: Sony NEC Optiarc DVD±RW burner AD-7200A, 20 Blu ray: Going to wait Sound card:Creative SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty 170 PSU: Cooler Master Real Power M 620W 90 Case: NZXT Tempest 89 Monitor: LG 22" LCD W2261VP-PF 185 Speakers: Logitech Z-2300 Speakers 2.1 THX 125 Keyboard: Razer Lycosa Gaming Keyboard, 79 Mouse: Logitech MX518 Optical Mouse 27 New price 1400. Any suggestions or will i stick with this build??
And i also put this together tell me if you think its better than the one above http://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=dSQmRIlC78tvjNz7+etJFYh4l5k2TGxc
Ugh, why is everyone obsessed with changing the RAM to low quality crucial these days?! Stick with the Corsair, for your own benefit.
Why the change in PSU too? 450W is ample for your PC and what's more, the 620W Coolermaster you added is actually less powerful than the Corsair that was there before, never mind lower quality and noisier, and more expensive!
my friend was just saying i was cutting it close with the 450W PSU.Do you think its enough? I changed to DDR3 RAM thinking it might be faster.I will go with the RAM you suggested. What do you think of the other build in the link.Better or worse??
It's more than enough. The PC I've spec'ed only uses about 250W at full load. DDR3 RAM offers no performance benefit to Socket 775 CPUs, and Crucial is a much inferior brand to Corsair. However, thanks for pointing it out, as that's actually a DDR3 board, I didn't notice. The Komplett.ie range of motherboards is absolutely dire, that was about the only board on there that's any good. Unless you can buy from somewhere other than Komplett, you may as well buy that board and some DDR3 (but not Corsair) simply to avoid the other crap they sell. There are many, many things wrong with the other build.
What do you think of this?? ive heard that the AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 219 is very good.Would it work with the mobo i picked or should i stick with intel??I really like AMD
Nope, the Q9550 is better than the X4 955 in pretty much every way, and the i5 750 flattens it. Unfortunately it's not a great time for AMD fans at the moment. You've now chosen a core i5 CPU with an old Core 2 board and DDR2 RAM. Correction: Mobo: Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3 109 Proc: Intel Core™ i5 Quad Processor i5-750 185 Ram: Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz 4GB CL8 112 Graphics: ASUS Radeon HD 5850 1GB GDDR5 277 HDD: WD Caviar® Black 750GB, 3,5", SATA 76 DVD drive: Sony NEC Optiarc DVD±RW burner AD-7200A, 20 Blu ray: Going to wait Sound card:? If not upgrading the system later on you should still be sticking with the 450W unit.
so do you think i should go with Q9550 or i5 750??I was also looking at Asus Crosshair III Formula AMD 790FX (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard. What do ya think??Bit more expensive at 145
Worse than the Gigabyte UD5P you had before, much worse. And besides, an expensive board doesn't make up for the shortcomings of the AMD CPUs. The i5 750 and Gigabyte P55 board is your best choice. Good choice on the HD5850 though, that's a much more powerful card than the HD4890 and ultimately, better value.
Ok thanks heres what im going for Mobo: Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3,Socket-1156 109 Proc: Intel Core™ i5 Quad Processor i5-750 185 Ram: Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz 4GB CL8 112 Graphics: ASUS Radeon HD 5850 1GB GDDR5 277 HDD: WD Caviar® Black 750GB, 3,5", SATA 76 DVD drive: Sony NEC Optiarc DVD±RW burner AD-7200A, 20 Blu ray: Going to wait Sound card:? Looks relatively good. I'm not a fan of Asus video cards but Powercolor are worse and Komplett don't have any other brands. Onboard sound is fine for most purposes, just don't expect the sound quality to match that of a proper sound card.
Ive heard good things about the ASUS.Think i will go with it.Onboard sound should be good enough.I shouldnt have any heat issues.Dont think i need liquid cooling or anything. What do u think??Think i will get windows 7 also
I assume by Asus you mean the Asus graphics card. As far as I can see Asus HD5850s are currently reference designs, so they will be more reliable than Asus' other cards as Asus haven't actually designed them.
Yes i meant the graphics card.i think thats everything.i dont think the CPU comes with a fan.think it will be a Zalman CNPS10X Quiet CPU Cooler for 46.I mite get a fan controller also?
i just noticed that the RAM Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz 4GB is not for the i5 processor.the Corsair Dominator DHX+ DDR3 1600MHz 4GB says its for the intel i5.will you check it.heres the links http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=492604 http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=492608
The CPU does come with a cooler, it's not great but it's alright. The CNPS10X on the other hand is a terribly designed cooler. You can either go with a Freezer 7 Pro V2 (if you're not overclocking) or buy a Thermalright MUX-120 cooler & bolt-through kit. The RAM I posted will work with the core i5 - I wouldn't read much into komplett's specs, most of them are wrong.
Ok thanks.Im happy enough with the build now.thanks for your help.will be a while before i have the money.Haveta sell my old pc 1st
