upgrading probs please help

    hey guys just yesterday i upgraded my amd sempron 3200 with 1gb ram to a am2 athlon 4200 and 3gb ram but now my computer happens to be more worse since the upgrade. it keeps freezing and i cant have even more than one programe open at once! all my bios cpu settings are set to auto and it has noticed the new cpu. wat is goin on?

    my mb is an asus m2n8-vmx. socket 940.
    please help me out. thanks

    One of the ram DIMMS could be defective. Often that will be the case if you're experiencing slowdowns. Try taking one of the new ones out, and going on the pc. If it works fine, then try the other (if it
    s 2x1GB sticks). Once you find one that slows your pc down, then that's the defective one.

    Just to point out, your motherboard is socket AM2, not socket 940. If you ever look for stuff relating to socket 940, you'll find it's not suitable.
