I have a windows 98 and would like to upgrade it to a windows xp. I know how to this, but it would would probably mean having to install everything (mostly games!) again. Is there a way of saving it all to a hard drive or something to put it onto a windows xp so that I don't have to start everything from scratch?

Yes. You buy the upgrade instead of the new install. and choose upgrade and your files will properly work depends if they can run in xp, and your data will be there cos its an upgrade not a new install. make sure its an upgrade !!!!!

Just a little advice. I know it may be cost effective but a system upgrade is always better if you just install the entire operating system after deleting existing partitions. Of course it can be done the other way (not saying that) it's just better to do a fresh install.
