i am here, when you took the ventilator off that was the cpu you read off, i think we are still stuck. check with person got computer if they have manual or motherboard cd. that is not 300mhz speed as amd did not make duron chips till about 650+ mhz. see what you can do, i'll be here

Just got a call... it turns out that my PC is not a P3 but a AMD processor. The guy I got it from has two manual, but he is not sure which one belongs to my PC.

He gave me the following info:

    k7t pro (ms-6330)
atxva mainboard (for atlon + duron processor)

    or

    PC 266 socket A
    M805 LR
    Chipset VIA vt8363

Now it looks to me that it is probably the fist one. Because yesterday I gave you a chipsetnr. which does not correspond with the one mentioned above. But then again, I could be wrong, you are the expert!

There are no CD's so this is all the info I got.

    Thanx The OGS and DDP!
I will get those manuals first thing tomorrow. Wanted to get them today but the guy was out of town.
ddp, what do you mean with 50/50! Can't we just try it? I am so eager to get started and now I have to wait another day....grrrrrr
But if you think it is better to wait, I will do so.

I just have one manual. The other one turned out to be of a second computer he has. If I compare the lay-out picture it is the as the one of my sick computer.
The cover of the manual says:

    PC266 systemboard
    Socket A
    M850LR user's manual

Sorry ddp, you are right it is 805lr.
I have been fumbling a bit myself and don't ask me what I have done but all of a sudden a completely different screen appeared! Right now I see on my screen:

    Windows Setup
    Loading files....
    (Is this a good sign?)

    Now it shows:

    Welcome to setup:

    - press enter if you want to install Windows XP
    - Press R if you want to repair a Windows installation
    - press F3 if you want to exit without installing Windows XP

When I press ENTER the following message appears:

Setup can't find a harddrive in your computer.
Make sure everything is connected and that the hardware configuration is correct.

I re-tried a couple of times but no still no go?
    What should i do?

    F.
