you are going to have to do a R.T.F.M.D(Read The F***ing Manual Dummy), not meant as insult just a saying i have to tell my customers. you have to find section in book last half is for bios that deals with auto detection of harddrive or something like that. i am going to find a copy either here or off net

    Thanx for the compliment!
But I did check the manual.

    Chapter 1: introduction
    Chapter 2: Mainboard installation
    Chapter 3: BIOS setup utility
    chapter 4: Software & applications

I suppose it is one of the sub chapters of Chap. 3, like advanced BIOS features page. Is it the HDD SMART Capability?

got a copy of manual, go to page 23, scroll down to primary ide master & press enter. if hd drive is master should popup, repeat on next 3 ide settings

reset connectors both power & ide to harddrive but shut poweroff & disconnect powercord 1st before playing with power & data cables as some boards still have power on when shut down. do you hear the harddrive making a noise like spinning. if no noise at all harddrive might be scrapped & you'll have to buy new one 40-80gig no higher i don't think

probably not if not detected by bios, switch hd cable from primary to secondary port on mother board, don't reconnect cdrom & see if bios finds hd or not. if not than you need new hd. let me know which way it goes

just switched the hd cable to secondary port, CDRom is now not connected. It was making a kind of clicking sound which just stopped.
On the screen it seems everything stopped.

already tried that in bios if bios not see hd windows can't load without hd as that is where it loads to. try get 20 40-60gig hd maxter, samsung, try not get western digital unless you have no choice. maxtor 40gig 7200rpm ata133 for $63Can. i don't know what the exchange rate between here & there is but gives you idea price wise. i'll be here to help you to hopefully finish
