so im trying to install linux on my xbox thru the mechassault software trick. prob is i cant get my xbox to read my usb stick with the edited mechassualt save games, and i cant check my usb compatibility cuz (http://unmodded.mine.nu/docs/XboxUsbCompatibilityList)is down. After i put the 'MechInstaller-1.0-FATX-256MB.img' file on my jump drive via ozxmemory and insert into the xbox, the xbox says 'the memory unit you inserted isnt working correctly. it has been erased'. i have a LEXAR 256mb jump drive.
    anyhelp would be GREATLY appreciated

I am having a similar problem, but a little different. I can't get my Windows XP machine to recognize the USB Disk after it is formatted by the xbox. It works with the xbox and i can copy game saves to it, but it won't get a drive letter from Windows. It shows in the device manager and in disk management but it says it is unknown. Anyone run into this?
