I have a USB drive plugged into my computer. The computer recognizes it, but that is all.
When I click on the drive letter, I get the following message:
"Please insert disk into USB Drive F"
As you can see, it recognizes the drive (lettered F), but won't do anything else.
I have tried going to the Disk Manager and clicking on the F Removable Media, but the only choices I get there are as follows: "Change Drive Letter and Paths"..."Properties"... or "Help"
Can anyone help me fix the problem so I can access the USB drive?
I can't format it or anything.
I would appreciate any help given.

i presume it is an external hard drive. either the external interface has crapped out or the drive itself. still under warranty?

    It is a USB drive.
They don't usually come with much of a warranty.
The computer shows it is there. I just can't do anything with it.

If you go to Administrator Tools, Computer Management, Storage, Disk Management, is the drive shown there? What is the format shown?

he already used "Disk Manager". i am pretty certain the drive is toast. i've had that happen with a bunch that i bought years ago from The Source which used to be Radio Shack in Canada for Christmas presents.

In Disk Management it is shown as :" Disk 2 Removable (F) no media"
If I right click on it I get only 3 options. : 1. Change Drive Letter and Paths 2. Properties 3. Help
