usb port not working

    this comes up on my computer when i connect a usb to it power surge on hub a usb device has malfunctioned and exceeded the power limits of it's hud port my computer is a compaq. thanks

    What are you trying to connect (give details like mfg model number).

    sony psp the port is a 2.0

    What is your OS.
    XP limits power to 10% for ports by defualt.
    You can change that but I would not do it.
    You seem to have another problem.
    Does the system recognize the psp when you plug it in?
    You might need a driver.
    No one seems to have had this problem, so it may be your PC.
    Do other USB devices work?

    get a powered usb hub that connects to the pc's usb port & connects to the psp. it uses external power.

    my os is window xp home, all the other usb ports work just this one,

    Right click on my computer -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Check if there any questionmarks in yellow -> if there is right click and enable. If it already is then click on update driver or Reinstall Driver. Think ull need ur XP cd to reinstall.
