hi, i just got an r4 card, its a regular r4 card, i dragged and dropped games like i was instucted, but i got the message about the lack of menu, cant remember exactly what it said but i looked it up and apparently i need some software, so i put on the software and tweeked it as follows, v.1.19 and i tryed putting the games in different places but when i press a game a box comes up saying not support ext.rar. i duno if ive got the menu right or the right software, could someone pleace help because im close to going insane here! thanks

 

Hi new to the site followed all the directions on page 1 to the letter my r4 card firmware is v1.21 but no cheats sorry no extra cheats just the ones that were on before i added the usrcheat.dat file please any advice will be greatly appreciated.

 

get the codes off the code manager instead of manually inputting them. got my m3 real from http://www.i'manidiot.com edited by ddp

 

Soz just read my last post back might not av made it clear i did everything as shown on page one created the usrcheat.dat file put it in my system folder but it did nothing checked the games i have on the card were in the usrcheat.dat file and they were but still no cheats.
Tryed re-formating the sd card and starting over but still no joy help plz lol.

 

For some reason, I can't run the cheat manager. It gives me the message:

"The file name, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."

How do I correct it, then? (It tells me the same thing for both US and EU verions.) Thanks in advance.

 

I desperately need help. Ive repeated all the steps several times and am still unable to get the cheats to work. There is no 'Y' button showing up when i scroll over the games. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

Just got mine to work on your sd card re-name the _system_ file in caps _SYSTEM_ and everything else you put into the file must be in caps even the file ext ie .DAT etc.As soon as i renamed the system file the cheats that were already on the card worked hope this helps.

 

There is still nothing. >.< This is just getting frustrating. Can ANYONE help me?!

 

Hi everyone. I followed the instructions on the front page, downloaded everything I needed to download but am stuck near the end of the list. I put my updated codelist into the _system_ folder but it doesn't show up on my codelist when I open my ar code manager. How do I activate the codes?

 

Mate go on youtube and search r4 cheats they show u how to import the xml file using the code manager.

 

I can't seem to get it working on de r4 sdhc, do you know if it also works on r4 sdhc?

 

I'm not having trouble importing the xml file, I don't know where to put the finished edited file to make the whole thing work. The videos are rather vague when it comes to finishing and I can't read the text on the screen.

I've done everything the guide told me to and I've updated my R4 but now it's only showing "Loading..." on the black screen and not going to the menu, help!

The biggest issue with the R4 is the number of different cards all needing different firmware's.

The general rules to eliminate most issues are,

1) Format your micro SD with Panasonics SD formatter (free use Google to find) and use it each time you change the firmware.

2) Download your firmware and extract it straight on to the SD (not onto the PC then transfer)

3) Try the available firmware's - http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ hosts them all, start with the likely candidates and work your way through

4) Ensure the SD is seated correctly in the R4 before putting into the DS

5) At this stage do not add any roms - get it past the loading screen first.

6) Unless it specifically says - the unit can take up to 2GB micro SD's, if it says SDHC then it can take up to 16GB (currently the highest available)

To find which firmware you need:

Look at the packaging which your r4 came in, as it often has where to update it from.

For example mine says: www.r4sdhc.com

So i simply head there and download the latest firmware.

 

I have a original R4DS chinese, which i now have updated to v1.18, english for chinese firmware. Games work fine, my old CHEAT.DAT file works, but when i put a new CHEAT.DAT file, theres no Y button for me to activate the cheats on the menu screen. I tried editing my old cheat file with Cheat Code Editor 1.01, but it says Database Format Error. The new cheat file i downloaded can be edited in the Cheat Code Editor but i can't use it on my R4DS.
